... I launched a book this week and I went Indie with it. Indie means I released it on Amazon via Kindle Direct Publishing. I had to. My Publisher, HarperVoyager, refused to publish it because of some of the ideas I wrote about in it. In other words, they were attempting to effectively ban a book because they felt the ideas and concepts I was writing about were dangerous and more importantly, not in keeping with their philosophical ideals. They felt my ideas weren't socially acceptable and were "guaranteed to lose fifty percent of my audience" as related back to me by my agent. But more importantly... they were "deeply offended." ...

I wonder if the editor was a chick.
The editor was a pro-abort of the first order, whatever HER motivation.
Can’t have any consequences for abortion, whether its individual or societal.....
Well....There WILL be consequences, in this life AND the next.
Interesting. Good for Nick.
In a free rational country, a privately owned company can publish whatever it wants and refuse to publish whatever it wants. That is one of the advantages of private property. The owner of private property gets to decide the use and disposal of the property. It is the government that uses force to censor. And a conservative publishing company should not be forced to publish libtard trash.
Deeply offended! Where can I get this and which one should I start with first?
I did my own Captain America story on a blog. I know they would not have excepted it at Marvel. Buncha dumbass libs.
Thank you for your service.
Well said.
Publishers, like, those dinosaur agencies in NYC, where they’ll give you maybe 10-15% royalties, and retain all the rights to your works, just so they can be placed in the remaining brick-and-mortar bookstores?
That is so 20th century. Who the hell needs that crap? As if it’s some amazing technical feat today to create a PDF file, upload files to Kindle etc. Seriously?
Self-publishing for 70% royalties, full control, retention of all rights, and a MUCH faster turnaround from completion to publication is the only way to go.
I’m not surprised at the attempted censorship. It is NYC, after all.
I’m surprised that Nick was still with a dinosaur legacy publishing house.
That may all be so, but then one must be required to openly wear their advocacy of censorship. One must be compelled to give up the pretense that they respect the concept of "free expression" and inform people that opinions with which they disagree shall not be published.
They have a duty to let us know before the fact what sort of STASI minded outfit they are, so we can exercise our freedom of choice not to patronize their business.
I clicked his link and may pick up his books - seem like my kind of stuff to read. With that said - his book was not “banned”. It is a private company transaction and they can not publish the book for whatever reason they want. He has no right to force them to publish his works per whatever contract they have between them.
But apparently advancing the thought that a brand new life form might see us, humanity, as dangerous because we terminate our young, apparently - that's a ThoughtCrime most heinous over at Harper Collins. Even for one tiny little chapter.

Three words (unfortunately) prove you wrong: gay wedding cake
You make money?
Just curious.
Amazon purchase bkmk.
There’s just one copy left at Amazon.
If I understand correctly the vast majority of editors these days are.
This is the SAME publisher that is handing pro-gay, anti-Trump MeGyn Kelly an $11 million deal for her “memoir”. Tells you all you need to know about Rupert Murdoch/FoxNews.
Good for you!!! GBU and keep writing and selk-publishing. They have their rights to property and SO DO YOU to yours this way!
Uh...how does one run out of eBooks?
Why spend 12.99 when the eBook is only 99 cents?
