there's no place in publishing for this kind of censorship

In a free rational country, a privately owned company can publish whatever it wants and refuse to publish whatever it wants. That is one of the advantages of private property. The owner of private property gets to decide the use and disposal of the property. It is the government that uses force to censor. And a conservative publishing company should not be forced to publish libtard trash.

I’m not surprised at the attempted censorship. It is NYC, after all.

I’m surprised that Nick was still with a dinosaur legacy publishing house.

That may all be so, but then one must be required to openly wear their advocacy of censorship. One must be compelled to give up the pretense that they respect the concept of "free expression" and inform people that opinions with which they disagree shall not be published.

They have a duty to let us know before the fact what sort of STASI minded outfit they are, so we can exercise our freedom of choice not to patronize their business.
