Donald Trump said Sunday he would "go through a process" to end waterboarding's status as a war crime in order to use it against ISIS if he is elected president.
"I'd go through a process and get it declassified frankly ... certainly waterboarding at a minimum," Trump told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."
"They're chopping off heads of Christians and many other people in the Middle East. They're chopping heads off, they laugh at us when they hear we're not going to approve waterboarding and then they'll have a James Foley and others where they cut off their heads."
Trump said during Saturday night's Republican debate in New Hampshire that he would reinstate waterboarding if elected and "bring back a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding." But he did not say what he would do that was "worse."
"You can say what you want I have no doubt that it does work in term of information and other things," Trump told Tapper.
When asked by Tapper if his performance in the caucuses meant he would have to win New Hampshire, Trump downplayed expectations for Tuesday.
"I want to win New Hampshire, but I don't think I have to win it, no," Trump said.

Why should he? Trump - and I can tell you as a NYer - has always been a tough law and order guy.
Shoving the politically correct barbra striesand stuff back down the libs throats. Go Donald.
They’ll have to watch Donald on WWE.
That will have them begging for the comfy chair.
(Duck’n & runn’n!)
Waterboard Hillary, Huma, and Mills!
What process might that be?
They burn people alive in a cage and if we splash water on their face liberals are frothing at the mouth in anger.
He should ask Congress to pass a law that any group that fails to follow the laws of war by primarily targeting civilians, kidnapping civilians, torturing and murdering captured members of the US military, failing to wear signs or clothing distinguishing them from non-combatants are not to be covered by the Geneva conventions.
The Left has successfully "normalized" terrorist groups since Stalin suddenly found it useful to embrace "national liberation" movements after WWII.
That "normalization" needs to be reversed.
Waterboarding isn’t torture.
Having to listen to Marco Robotio repeat himself twenty times is torture.
I wish he would mention that the terrorists are NOT protected by the Geneva Convention. International Law offers no protection for them.
Quite easy: pass a law stripping designated terrorist groups of the protection of the Geneva conventions, which is what that idiot Bush should have done.
The libs always smirk when Obama doubles down, DT does it and it’s “oh the humanity!”. Gimme a break.
Anything that we do to to our own people in Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training is not torture. I have read the Al Qaeda torture manuals that were recovered when the Marines took Fallujah, so I know the difference between torture and “enhanced interrogation.”
I’m still supporting Ted Cruz but I do enjoy this position.
They need also to be stripped of habeas corpus rights also, so the courts can't meddle.

Unless he puts PROFITS over PRINCIPLES....
Donald Trump attacked the law that bans American companies bribing foreign officials

Considering these ISIS people will cut off heads; drown people; kill babies and women....I would say ‘water boarding’ isn’t to bad of a thing...
Actually, nothing is to bad of a thing if it takes out these barbarians that live like the 7th century people that used to do this...
Worse things we did, put any of the Bushes, Clintons and obumas in the White House; let the Clintons sell secrets to foreign countries for money for themselves; hide the truths about the Bushes and Clintons and their drug cartels; go to war in Iraq, and appoint ‘miss bags’ as Sect. of State...
There are more, but will leave for later...
I don't think terrorists fall under Geneva Convention protections. And if they did then we couldn't just pass a law removing their protections.
Trump thinks like everyone else and for some reason it takes guts to say the obvious. They not only are beheading, but burning people in cages including children and Obama is worried about pouring a little water up these savages noses-give me a break. Go Donald!
Exactly why could we not pass a law stripping them of such protections when we could withdraw from the whole treaty if we wished?
