The dab is dead until further notice.
There would be no dabbing on this night for Cam Newton -- the biggest night of his NFL career, a night when the Panthers superstar was attempting to complete one of the greatest seasons a quarterback has ever delivered.
As it does for every team that loses the Super Bowl, the end came in an almost violent abruptness.
Broncos 24, Panthers 10 in Super Bowl 50 Sunday night at Levi's Stadium sucked the life from every one of the Carolina players, but none more than Newton, who'd been so brilliant all season.
Newton, who threw 35 touchdown passes and rushed for 10 more in the regular season, finished the game 16-of-38 for 245 yards, an interception and two lost fumbles that led to 15 Denver points.
When it ends for the Super Bowl loser, the finality of it all is something that players who've experienced it have a difficult time describing. Some even contend they'd rather not have gotten to the game at all if they were not going to win it.
So just like that Sunday night, blue and orange confetti rained down on the field and Newton and the Panthers, who entered the game with a remarkable 18-1 record, were quickly ushered off the field to make way for the winners' celebration ceremony.

Cam’s petulance during his post game interview was a snapshot of Cam. Great winner, horrible loser. The problem is, its pretty easy to be a gracious winner.
Grace in the face of defeat... not so easy.
petulant and pouty,
glad he lost, especially after he played the race card last week.
“Pompous buffoon”
Glad I’m not the only one to view him that way
Denver has a great pass rush.
He’s young and rich. He’ll get over it.
I was surprised Denver shut them down completely. Cam had a few dropped passes but mostly Denver knocked the Panthers on their ass.
Glad to see Petyton go out with the big win. Hope he retires now. Perfect timing after the season he had.
What a stupid article. It was clear neither QBs were much of a factor. It was the best defense that would win the game, and that was Denver.
Yep, he is forever going to regret not diving on that fumble at the end of the game. What was he thinking?
He’s no stranger to his big ego. He’s a racist, too.
Exactly. Classless player. sCam is an average QB who thinks he is God’s gift.
When I watched the replay of him deliberately turning his back on a dropped ball in the 4th quarter and scurrying to safety I thought I had never seen such a blatant act of cowardice.
...
Dan Marino used to do that.
I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom for him. He had one hell of a defense throw everything they could at him, and the Broncos got many lucky breaks. The only real issue with Cam was NOT DIVING ON A LOOSE BALL. Otherwise, a great ending to a fabulous season.
If that gorilla lands on me, I might never walk again?
He got a priceless education tonight, one mot many QBs get so early in their career. What a defense!
“He got a priceless education tonight, one mot many QBs get so early in their career.”
Paging Marino, paging Dan Marino! White courtesy telephone please!
“When I watched the replay of him deliberately turning his back on a dropped ball in the 4th quarter and scurrying to safety I thought I had never seen such a blatant act of cowardice.”
This is the biggest game of your life. You MUST hold the ball. It gets loose and you don’t want the ball?. Don’t care how great a player you are. That’s a character flaw.
Your hilarious. LOLLLLLLLLLLL Purple lips, I am still laughing.
All he had to do was fall on the ball, like every other NFL QB would have done. They were only 6 points down with plenty of time on the clock.
That was the worst play I have ever seen from a QB and it will haunt him forever.
I don’t follow football but usually watch the Superbowl.
Dont know Cam from a hole in the wall but this article says he had a tremendous season.
The guy on the field tonight was tired, a lousy passer, had terrible protection from his line, and had tiny ineffective running backs.
The coaching staff refused to improvise and adapt, every offensive play was Cam dropping back and trying to connect for a 20-40 yard reception.
The guy was incapable of moving the ball down the field.
And I thought the Dolphins were pathetic
Mannning is practically a geriatric
And Newton is a racist to boot apparently.
Unbelievable.
I think it showed intelligence and a lot more courage than diving into the scrum and risking possible injury.
He must have know he would be criticized no end for that play, but the reality is that he is much more valuable to his team than a single fumble recovery if he is injured in the process. This is the kind of thinking that separates excellent players for good players. He has many years of leading his team to wins if he stays healthy. If he dives in and comes up with an injury he will be forever diminished.
I think the coaches liked it even if some fans didn't.
