An "article" posted Thursday by Jeva Lange at The Week blatantly lies about Ted Cruz. And it is not the first time Lange has mischaracterized Cruz's words.

The post, titled "Ted Cruz mistakenly claims Jimmy Carter endorsed Donald Trump," gives the reader the false impression that Ted Cruz said former President Jimmy Carter would vote for Donald Trump.

Lange writes: ...

“He says Trump has no core principles and is thus malleable”

Since when has Jimmy Carter become an expert for you? Or, when did Jimmy Carter become honest an honest person?

His supporters willfully overlook all of Trump’s flip flops, his years of not only donating to Democrats, but actually being one. From supporting abortion to eminent domain, to universal healthcare. The cult of personality must be strong to fool so many. He’s a whiter Obama.

He sees the same thing I see, except he is interpreting what he sees from a leftist perspective. Whereas I see danger signs all around Trump, Carter sees opportunity.

I didn’t say that, you are the person that is saying that by agreeing with Jimmah Carter. Do you really believe Jimmah only wants to steer you in the right direction? Do you think he is stupid?

He wants you to vote for the guy he knows will lose, that is why he is pumping up Trump, because he wants you to get mad, vote against him, and nominate the guy who will lose. Cruz!

Sorry you can’t see what Carter is doing here.

Either that, or as conservatives, and therefore as a nation, our shared dedication to our founding principles has been weakened.

“...except he is interpreting what he sees from a leftist perspective.”

All mind games.

Proverbs 20:14 —

“It is bad, it is bad,” says the buyer;
but when he has gone his way, then he boasts.

Cruz was very malleable when it came time to roll out/vote for TPA and the Corker bill, but you refuse to accept that into your perspective.

As usual, Ted will do better than everyone expects. But if you pay attention to Ted’s strategy, NH is by no means crucial.

He voted NO on TPA. And he said he did not like voting for the Corker bill, but thought it might buy a little more time to stall the Iran deal.

But hey, anybody can nit-pick. What do you think of Ted Cruz’s 97%-100% conservative/pro-liberty VOTING RECORD in the Senate?

What do you think of Jeff Sessions, who led the charge against Rubio’s Gang of Eight bill, saying that if it wasn’t for Ted Cruz the whole thing would have passed?

The Cruz ad implied an endorsement of Trump when it was, to Carter, the lesser of two evils.

There’s something about Cruz that’s just ... Oily.

Good one word description of the guy. Oily.

Did you actually view and listen to the comment made by Ted and what Carter said?
If you watch the video, Cruz does say “Jimmmy Carter endorsed Donald Trump. I am not making that up. That is real. Jimmy Carter said yesterday - he said that between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz I would support Donald Trump.”

Carter was saying goes this because he says Cruz is not “malleable”. To me, this is the draw to Ted. He will stand on his core constitutional principles and not worry about what’s popular or what the polls are saying.

Carter saying he would be better with Trump than with Cruz is kind of like us saying we would be better with Bernie than with Hillary. It’s faint praise.

Not just the lesser of evils,,,Carter views Trump as having no core values, someone who can be plied and molded into implementing their agenda.

It will have only begun... Trump will mop the floor with either Hillary or Bernie, though in his inimitable cringe-provoking way.

Vis a vis Bernie: “You Gen Xers want to get kicked out of your mothers’ basements? Just hit her with Bernie’s taxes!”

He reads Trump’s deal as an opportunity to get a Carter-liberal foot in the door.

Why aren’t conservatives reading Trump’s deal as an opportunity to get THEIR foot in the door?

Sounds like Carter is the wiser one here, if we were to ignore the relative merits of liberal vs. conservative positions for a moment.

“He voted NO on TPA.”

He helped Ryan get it going; he said Sessions did not know what he was talking about when Sessions warned us all about how the bill usurped Congress’s authority over immigration. He voted for cloture, which he had previously stated that a vote for cloture was a vote for any particular bill, then he voted for the bill. He voted against the bill the second time when his “yes” vote was no longer needed. You don’t have to take my word for it; google it.

“And he said he did not like voting for the Corker bill, but thought it might buy a little more time to stall the Iran deal.”

That is a laughable lie on Cruz’s part. The Corker bill hurried up the implementation of the Iranian bill.

By the way, both bills were top Obama agenda items. Should that not have given the non-malleable Cruz pause? I mean, if he were such a rock.

“What do you think of Jeff Sessions, who led the charge against Rubio’s Gang of Eight bill, saying that if it wasn’t for Ted Cruz the whole thing would have passed?”

The Senate passed the Gang of Eight bill. Then it went to the House and was out of any senator’s hands. Cruz had nothing to do with the House defeating the bill.

A bill that turns over the sovereignty of the United States to a foreign cartel is hardly nit-picking. A bill that helps a terrorist nation develop a nuclear weapon is hardly nit-picking.

Good post!

It’s stunning that people can read the WSJ article by Cruz and Ryan praising TPA/TPP as the best thing since sliced bread and STILL say Cruz was against it. BOGGLES the mind!

If you watch the video, Cruz does say "Jimmmy Carter endorsed Donald Trump. I am not making that up. That is real..."

In public remarks, Jimmy Carter said he would support Trump over Cruz.

That's not an "endorsement".

So Cruz WAS "mistaken" - so much for that "keen and incisive" mind.

Thanks for proving that GodGunsGuts, and Renee Nal, author of this swill, are serial fabulists. :)
