New Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that there were 665,000 jobs lost in January, a blunt finding that confuses the heralded report that 151,000 jobs were created in January in non-farm payrolls.
But who got them? The very same BLS finds that jobs to "native born" and immigrant workers dropped. Ditto for men and women.
It is possible that many employees took on a second job, according to analysts. But a difference of 816,000 is too big, one said.
Same for the differences in the two surveys the BLS uses to gauge jobs, household data from the Current Population Survey, and "Establishment" data from the Current Employment Statistics, a survey of businesses. Normally they track but not always.
Still, the household data showed the growth -- and the decline. Consider these BLS numbers based on household data. In January, there were 25,328,000 "foreign born" workers employed, a one-month drop of 98,000.
In January, there were 123,710,000 "native born" men and women employed, a one-month drop of 567,000.
Analysts note that there are several ways to count jobs created and lost but the losses shown among men and women, foreign born and immigrants, is significant, said a congressional expert, who told Secrets, "Maybe big thing this month is just the decline in number of native born workers drops over half million in a month?"

Employment ALWAYS goes down in January. Just like it always goes up in June. So the numbers are seasonally adjusted to eliminate the periodic change.
And the unadjusted change in non farm payroll jobs was -3MILLIOON. But that was all seasonal.
Since Obama is in ofice, there has been less & less reporting on every Thursday of the NEW claims for unemployment. I used to follow that closely. Now, I cannot find the numbers.
IF there are 375,000 new claims every week and new jobs of 150,000 once a month, that is a large difference, and then Obama says that UNEMPLOYMENT is down to 4.9%
There isn’t a single statistic I believe out of this administration any more.
Transparent they are NOT.
Sadly, I think we are already done for and have been since the Democrats went on their binge from 2009-2011.
We are unavoidably going to enter some dark times as our fiscally overextended country tries to unwind the excesses of the Obama era and it's unsustainable yearly borrowing binge that funds 50% of our annual budget.
Who ever is elected in 2016 is going to face hard times and hard choices and the type of President we elect in 2016 is going to determine what the country looks like after we come out at the end of the crisis.
How many of the new jobs were part-time?
Debt Up $3,968,445,855,460.28 Under Boehner’s Spending Deals; $26,627.43 Per Worker
The GOP has controlled the US House were all appropriation bills HAVE TO BE INTRODUCED and passed onto the US Senate. One cannot blame Obama for that.
Yes, but Harry Reid essentially locked in the Democrat Era budgets of massive spending until Republicans pried the Senate away from the Democrats in 2012.
We have not had a real budget passed since 2010, and the Government has run run on continuing resolutions essentially rolling over and extending the last Reid/Pelosi/Obama budget before the Democrats lost control of the House.
Boehner actually tried one budget showdown with Obama but Obama’s overwhelming popularity and the media backlash on the Republicans by the Obama lackys in the media intimidated the Republicans into rolling over.
Like it or not, Obama had his media propaganda organ in his pocket and the stupid and economic illiterate American public on his side and the Republicans were left twisting in the wind when they went out on a limb to start a budget fight.
The Republicans have behaved badly, but try looking at things from their perspective.
America elected Obama twice and has blindly supported him for almost 8 years. Every time the Republicans try to put up a fight, they are beaten into the ground by a lying media and a feckless American public that buys their propaganda hook line and sinker.
The American people deserve the misery and hard times Obama is setting the stage for because they are bringing disaster upon themselves because they voted for Obama - twice.
Has there been any month since the Disaster in Chief was elected that there weren’t more job losses than job gained?
Well this author must be a racist or something.
The economy is about to implode. The kennel where we take our dogs is now using half of it’s space. I would say dog boarding would be one of the first things cut when the paycheck stops.
That’s fine there Fhios
During his first campaign for pres,
Obammy was given the name, “ the magic negro,”
By a liberal dem. Journalist.
Since i can not call this blight what i would like to,
I will continue to call this mooselimb fag a “magic negro”.
And what, 90 million either underemployed or unemployed.
Yeah federal gubmint under this quota puke you all sure are doing a bang up job there, a-holes.
And if obammy’s federal gub mint comes out with good numbers, in a few months they are Always trimmed Down.
Mookabooken Liar this mooselimb fag is.
Right. There is now so much debt that if the economy recovers, it is bad for the economy. I pointed out to a liberal co-worker a couple of years ago that if the economy recovered to bring interest rates back up to historically average rates, that the debt service would go from the then-current $180 B to over $800 B...forever ( or until the economy crashed again).
