Trump on Cruz feud: 'I don't care about that anymore'
CNN ^ | February 4, 2016 | MJ Lee

The day after accusing Ted Cruz of winning the Iowa caucuses unfairly and asking for a rematch in the state, Donald Trump says he's now over it.

"I'm so much into this, into New Hampshire, that I just — I don't care about that anymore," Trump said in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper in Manchester, just five days out from next Tuesday's primary contest here. "This is the place I'm focused on now."

These comments, made at Theo's, a popular local pizza joint that serves up specialty Italian and Greek dishes, were in stark contrast to a tirade of angry tweets Trump sent out the day before, where he charged that the Texas senator had committed "fraud" in Iowa and called for a "new election."

The controversy started when CNN reported Monday night that Carson would go home to Florida following the Iowa caucuses instead of flying directly to the early voting states New Hampshire and South Carolina. The network added that he planned to stay in the race.

Some Cruz allies shared that news widely on the night of the caucuses, including to Carson supporters, but did not include the part about Carson remaining in the race.

Excellent points about Trump’s dad and needing a president who has fought the bureaucracy and still gotten stuff done.

I could just imagine Rickover’s response to Cruz’ claim that “I’ve stood and fought the system ever since I graduated from law school.”

It would be a very interesting rant on the value of lawyers, politicians, and the uselessness of trying without succeeding.

There you go, Girl!

There was a question yesterday at a Trump rally about the water at Camp Lejeune yesterday in New Hampshire. Donald Trump assigned one of his staff to look into it. What do you want to bet that the Marine Corps is busting a gut trying to fix the problem right now?

>> doesn’t matter to [Trump] if true or not....as long as the end result is the same...he’s in front of a camera <<

I gotta think you’ve got it exactly right.

Or as master spin-artist P. T. Barnum is alleged to have said,

“I don’t care what the papers say about me, as long as they spell my name correctly.”

Yes indeed. Nothing beats consistent inconsistency.

Let people get their own insurance and get government OUT of it.

I agree.

Which candidate has offered that 'promise' ?

Love your screen name. It reminds me of Trump. I say he’s the Andrew Jackson of our generation. And because history repeats itself, he’ll make a great president too; although not conservative enough for some and too conservative for others.

Why is this so hard to believe? This was again, well played by Trump. He raised the issue, made a bombastic statement, and let nature take its course. He's done this over and over and over again - immigration, China, Cruz birth, Cruz dirty campaign tactics, etc. etc. etc.

I'm not shocked that Trump has and will move on because the accomplishment he wanted, succeeded. This wasn't really about suing over the results.

It was branding Cruz as a liar and a typical politician. And it did and it continues to hamper Cruz's campaign. Well played Donald. Again.

It appears to me that the polls are stable now that the election is 4 days off. I expect the current flavor of the week, Rubio, to advance maybe 5 more points by Tuesday. I see Donald Trump winning NH by 10 and taking that lead and increasing it by at least 2 more points for SC and Nevada. Could be off, so what as long as Trump wins. I’m happy.

Right.. it is insincere. How do you know if anything Trump says is what he actually believes. He says whatever he needs to, to accomplish whatever goal he wants.

Biggest crybaby looser?

He’s one delegate behind and set to take NH by at least 10 while leading in SC and Nevada by roughly the same count. I get it, you don’t like the guy and that’s fine. I’ve lost all respect for Sen. Cruz and here is why:

Sen. Cruz, a committed Christian, chose to play dirty politics in Iowa over adhering to the high principals of his faith and conservatism, which both forbid. I no respect for politicians who wear the Christian mantle publicly while playing dirty when they think no one is looking. And that is exactly what Cruz did. If Trump plays dirty, at least he won’t hide behind his Bible while doing so.

Many candidates claim to want government out of healthcare (Cruz, Fiorina. Rubio, Kasich). But have to go beyond the surface, and I believe Ted Cruz is the only candidate willing to do it, and make congress subject to the same laws they want to impose on their constituents.

Your only argument against Cruz is a phony manufactured lie. Sending out a mailer getting people to the polls isn’t “dirty”. Appealing to Iowans and asking them to vote for a candidate who is in the race for the long haul (instead of one who is hemorrhaging staff and drying up donations...a wasted vote if Carson is going home instead of campaigning), isn’t “dirty” either. It only bothers you because the “birther” nonsense didn’t sway enough votes to your Trojan Horse candidate.

Trump is back on message.

And that is bad news for Cruz.

That will force the media to do their jobs and keep exposing the Cruz Dirty Tricks in Iowa.

Dr Carson is a very good man of solid character. He will not spread any rumors about other candidates, bank on it. Only sleazy career politicians resort to such methods.

It’s not insincere. It’s a negotiation and a way to generate other people doing his bidding. Read his books. It’s all right in front of you and everyone else.

And people are saying Cruz is the one playing dirty?

Cruz’ camp did what anyone in their logical mind would do...and they did what you are supposed to do at a caucus, which is to convince others to vote for you.

I do not see anything dirty or underhanded about that. Carson put it out there. Cruz used every opportunity (and tool) that he could to try to gain votes. There has yet to be any proof that he actually did, by that, anyway.

Trump doing the things he does, saying the things he does and spouting off to get attention, IS what is dirty and if that doesn’t show the kind of character (or lack of therein) that man has, I don’t know what does.

But his supporters ignore reality. It’s insane. The most constitutional conservative candidate has finally come along, and he’s the one being attacked and treated the worst and accused of every little thing, even when facts don’t back up the accusations. And Trump goes out and does worse things, has a worse record and those who point that out, get attacked for it.

It’s WORSE than Obama 2008. I’m really beginning to believe Trump’s sole purpose is to divide and conquer the conservatives.
