The day after accusing Ted Cruz of winning the Iowa caucuses unfairly and asking for a rematch in the state, Donald Trump says he's now over it.
"I'm so much into this, into New Hampshire, that I just â I don't care about that anymore," Trump said in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper in Manchester, just five days out from next Tuesday's primary contest here. "This is the place I'm focused on now."
These comments, made at Theo's, a popular local pizza joint that serves up specialty Italian and Greek dishes, were in stark contrast to a tirade of angry tweets Trump sent out the day before, where he charged that the Texas senator had committed "fraud" in Iowa and called for a "new election."
The controversy started when CNN reported Monday night that Carson would go home to Florida following the Iowa caucuses instead of flying directly to the early voting states New Hampshire and South Carolina. The network added that he planned to stay in the race.
Some Cruz allies shared that news widely on the night of the caucuses, including to Carson supporters, but did not include the part about Carson remaining in the race.

Trump is winning and looks to do very well going forward. This is a good position for him to take, damage is done. Trump needs to focus on his message and bring people back into the issues which he has the strongest position on, immigration, economy and foreign relations. He can kick butt on these 3 topics alone. He doesn’t need to descend into personal attacks unless attacked.
>>My FRiend, Trump is using the vicious attack because it is from the attack technique as developed by the Alinsky Method in Rules for Radicals.
>>The refreshing thing about Trump is that he says what is on his mind regardless of the consequences. Then he moves on. This drives the pundits crazy, but I like it.
It’s amazing that more people can’t see what you two see. He is playing popular culture and the sound bite media like a violin. It’s fun watching his haters try to keep up.
“I am thinking he is playing Cruz like a fiddle. Cruzâs snide remark about nuking Denmark shows Trump got under his skin. My bet is that today Iowa will not be mentioned unless someone asks him.”
And then will it Cruz who won’t be able to stop talking about Trump? Jeb can’t stop talking about him.
You are exactly correct. We haven’t even seen the bigger drops from this, IMO. Whether or not Trump can hold it together for a full campaign is a real question at this point.
The fact that someone was able to get through to him and let him know this was hurting counts for something. The worst thing for him is that I think Cruz knows how to get under his skin now and we’ll see him mock Trump more often now to get a reaction.
An, NO, Trump’s actions are not some brilliant use of the OODA loop.
He learned that it was hurting his poll numbers.
Concurring bump.
With a couple of tweets Trump effectively blunted the after glow from the Cruz victory in Iowa and by taking up fellow outsider Ben Carson’s cause in this matter probably earned an endorsement down the road.
>>Cruzers simply don’t get it - Trump does not play by the politicians rules.
I know. They want someone from outside the establishment who will shake up Washington.
But they also want someone will call a lying socialist who just introduced a bill to enslave Americans “My esteemed colleague”.
Nothing changes until the rules of the game change. They are upset that the casino always wins but keep putting money on the table hoping for better luck.
I’m gonna kill that guy!!!
Oh look! A squirrel!
About the polls. During the last week, Cruz shifted advertising in Iowa to attack Rubio. At the time, the Trump supporters said that Cruz realized he’d lost to Trump and was fighting for 2nd. In reality what happened was that HIS CAMPAIGN almost certainly had internal polls showing him that Rubio was moving up and he took a strategic change in direction to blunt the move.
That’s what competent campaigns do. No cheating involved in the Iowa result, just the actions of a campaign that actually has a clue.
The fact that Carson continues to cut staff (most of them moving to Cruz) and that the money guys are dumping him for Cruz makes me think Cruz’s organization probably knows more about Carson’s campaign (or lack therof) than Carson does. I wonder if he intended to dump the campaign and is now continuing things just for the sake of his little snit? Certainly, he’s not angry enough to blame HIS staff for talking out of turn to CNN. Nor is he angry enough at himself for running a campaign where him being crazy/stupid enough to drop out the night of the caucus is entirely believable to most observers.
As of last night Carson still isn’t in New Hampshire and has cut another 40% of his staff. Again, I wonder if he never had any plans to end up in New Hampshire and is only continuing the charade to give credence to his “anger”
Tainted, not proven. The perception has been created, regardless of the truth.
Standard operating procedure for the man you support. The stuff he brags about pulling off when talking about his book.
How many of the promises he has convinced you of are also just perception? Let me guess: he only uses those tactics on others, not you...
“It’s amazing that more people can’t see what you two see. He is playing popular culture and the sound bite media like a violin. It’s fun watching his haters try to keep up.”
I’m one. I’ve enjoyed watching this process immensely and I get what he’s doing. The 2D and 3D analogies are really true. And it seems, many people here can’t grasp it. There is so much more going on than people realize.
I’m lucky though because I can put 2 & 2 together with bits of diverse information. Christmas can really stink when one word uttered is like the first in a series of dominoes that drop and I know what I’m getting. I’ve been told I’m spooky lol. But it seems so obvious to me.
So I get what Trump is doing. He’s a 3D thinker. Checkers v. chess is a good way to describe it as well. In chess, you have to be several steps ahead in your thinking and able to refine your strategy based on the situation on the board.
Really? Are you talking about what Cruz is going to do? Nah. He has taken over your cranial cavity, rent free. It is hilarious to watch. You are all trying to figure out what he is up to. And that is what he is up to is getting you to try to figure out what he is up to. "Look, a squirrel." So you look and say "What squirrel? Trump is mad. There is no squirrel." It is hysterical.
Future exchange if he gets the presidency.
elected official in a US border town: If you build a wall here it will hurt our economy.
Trump: Nevermind, i am no longer interested in the huge wall, I won’t build it everywhere.
....That wasn’t actually a future scenerio... roughly paraphrasing this has already happened...

Keep telling yourself that. All the while that HUUUGE lead in NH keep dwindling.
He is either a genius or unstable.
I pick unstable.
Squirrel!

He knows that war is a democracy and the enemy gets a vote too. His strategies have been right out of SunTzu. He is never where the enemy needs him to be. He never shows up with the forces that they planned for. He never fights where they are strong.
Bwahahahaaa! Fell for it did ye? Can't stick to a thing for a minute - he's mad - there is no squirrel? Building? Where did that 100 story high rise in my back yard come from? If he had told me he was building a building I would have objected. Oh, he he did tell me? But,but, but... there is no squirrel. Go back to watching cartoons. Maybe Elmer will get old Bugsy yet.
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!
Trump, Trump, Trump!
(Sounds like Jeb!
...and now others. Lol)
