Trump won't rule out Cruz as VP pick
Politico ^

In a striking reversal of rhetoric, Donald Trump would not rule out Ted Cruz as his hypothetical vice-presidential pick.

"Well, I don"t know. Look, I have nothing against him. It was sort of a sad thing that happened, but I'"ve always liked him," Trump told Hugh Hewitt on his radio show Thursday, after weeks of trashing his primary rival as nasty, hypocritical and disliked.

Trump added that he has "always gotten along well" with Cruz, but that "I'm so much now focused on New Hampshire."

I am a Cruz supporter but I think this would be a formidable ticket. Just a few observations:

1. If Cruz is Trump's running mate, a lot of the concerns about Trump by conservatives will be diminished considerably.

2. Trump may be better positioned as a leader at this point, especially since he's a true "outsider" in politics.

3. I don't believe Trump has any interest in serving for eight years, so Cruz (who is much younger) would be a great natural successor.

4. For all his flaws, Trump can run a very, very entertaining and energetic campaign.

I respect your reply. We always have a passionate primary here on FR. We always come together after again. If Cruz is the nominee.......everyone will support him. If Trump is the nominee.....I can’t imagine anyone not supporting him. I am sure that is who it will come down to. Rubio might be the Santorum/Huckabee winner of Iowa where he will fizzle down south somewhere. Rubio never really has had to answer tough questions like he will on Saturday night especially from Christie, Bush, Kasich. I am not sure what Cruz and Trump are going to do that night as far as Rubio. They may “stand back” and let that group destroy Rubio. I sorta would like to see them do that. I think this is the primary for the Governors destroying Rubio.

Cruz isn’t really a threat in New Hampshire so Trump changes his tune, why am I NOT surprised.

Does he actually mean it, or a cynical ploy for Cruz’s voters?

Four years of Trump would be easier to take than the Obummers CONSTANTLY on TV, on shows, etc. We have never had a President who is constantly trying to hog air time like the Obummers. They seem to think they are stars.

“He will do whatever to win”

Fine as long as his goals are close to mine.

All I want is to see the Ted Cruz US birth certificate. Is that too much to ask? Pretty please, for Valentines Day?

About a week ago Trump said he’d support Cruz if he were determined “eligible.”

Trump’s full-scale attacks on Cruz cost him big in Iowa and will continue to cost him. Trum would be well advised to take the opposite tack:

Sen. Cruz has many ideas with which I agree. He is a good man, a solid conservative and an uncompromising patriot. I believe, however, that I am far more electable in the general election. Trump should focus his attacks on Hillary and Sanders and THEIR ideas. He should stop the profanity-—it’s a yuge turn-off.

Cruz and Rubio have too much dirt on them that will no doubt be made more public, neither is a NBC.

I am 10000% sure that Trump will not pick any professional politiwhore for veep.

Yes, but Chester destroyed all his records (birth certificate, etd.) and never admitted to anything. There were questions, but It all came out after the fact.

How can he select Cruz and his vice president when he doesn't believe he is constitutionally eligible to be president?

I am not convinced that Trump believes that, nor am I convinced that there was ever any genuine animosity between them. I think they had a conversation in which they agreed to appear to disagree, to raise voter interest. That's just my guess.

“No, it would be better the other way around: what could be more delicious than for Cruz to become president of the senate?”

Yeah, that would be nice, too! ;-)

If Cruz is the nominee.......everyone will support him. If Trump is the nominee.....I can’t imagine anyone not supporting him.

I have to agree, considering the alternative.

I am 10000% sure that Trump will not pick any professional politiwhore for veep.

I guess that rules out communist Bill De Blasio, assuming his term will be up at that time.

Fred Dicker: What is it going to mean for Donald Trump to have Bill de Blasio as [New York City] Mayor?"

Donald Trump: "He's a smart guy that knows what's going on really big league and I think he is not going to want to destroy New York."

(Voice Over: That was Donald Trump a little over two years ago, endorsing [Marxist] Bill de Blasio for New York Mayor)

Donald Trump: "I think pretty strongly that he'll end up being a good mayor, maybe a very good mayor."

(Voice Over: De Blasio ran on class warfare, sanctuary cities and ending stop and frisk. De Blasio's sided with looters and cop killers against the police, with teachers unions against schoolchildren and with PC liberals to let the homeless run wild on city streets)

Donald Trump: "I think he is going to want to make New York great. ..."

The alternative is most frightening. They are one upping each other to who can out communist the other. Terrible for the Democratic party which of course is great. They have it like we did in 2008....a very difficult road to win the Presidency. We actually are in a very good position to win the Presidency this time.
