National Campaign Launched to Abolish U.S. Education Department
The New American | 2-2-2016 | Alex Newman

Posted on 02/04/2016 8:00:26 AM PST by EternalVigilance

After years of running up against unconstitutional federal education mandates imposed on states using bribes and bludgeoning from Washington, D.C., a group of parents and grassroots education activists from across America is launching a fresh effort to shut down the U.S. Department of Education once and for all. The mission: "Stop Fed Ed."

In the crosshairs is everything from dumbed-down "standards" such as the Obama-backed Common Core nationalization of schooling and associated federal testing regimes, to the deeply controversial federal data gathering and data mining encouraged and financed largely by the feds. The group hopes to pressure Congress into ending all education-related federal funding, mandates, and data schemes. Efforts will also be undertaken at the state and local level.

In the end, the group hopes that by abolishing the Education Department and removing the federal government's tentacles from America's schools and children, positive reforms can be pursued at the state and local level to improve education -- as intended by the framers of the Constitution. Many of the group's leaders have long track-records of pushing state and local efforts to fix various education problems. But with the specter of unconstitutional federal meddling and threats always looming large, that has been difficult.

Now the parent activists are ready to try a fresh approach...

The DOE(both of them) and the EPA must absolutely be abolished if we are to have any chance of restoring the Republic. They ARE the government. Even Cruz or Trump will not be able to accomplish much in the United States if these agencies continue to exist. They will use all available resources to undermine a conservative or even a Republican President.

Any and all federal involvement in (the various states’) education...is completely unconstitutional.
___

Exactly right. Not complicated at all.

We have to get rid of every single one of them that is not moral, constitutional, or absolutely needed. In that order.

Department of Education is the source of the muslim indoctrination that is being incorporated into curricula.

Not true. It's an extortion racket.

Exactly! How else can a president's WIFE dictate what's on a child's plate lunch at school?!? The entire fricken FEDGOV has turned into a racket and the GOPe is the 'smoke and mirrors' arm of it!

We had federal aid to education long before the Department of Education came into existence. But it has metastasized under the influence of this Carter payoff to the teachers unions.

That was pretty much limited to school lunches and reimbursement for expenses to school districts that had large military populations in the districts. Teachers unions are only a small portion of the problem. School districts/state education boards will comply with any mandate from the feds in order to get those dollars.

Thanks.

I wish more people realized that this is a major tool in how the viewpoint of our youth is shaped and the consequences of that. The Department of Education and the Teacher Unions have so much control. All anyone needs to do is take a look at the curriculum.

I’m close to the point of giving up. No one seems to care enough to change anything.
