MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (CNN) - Marco Rubio on Tuesday scooped up an endorsement from a veteran Republican activist in New Hampshire as he looks to build upon a third-place finish in Iowa that has bolstered his credentials as a leading GOP establishment candidate.
Susan Duprey, who served as chief of staff to Ann Romney, Mitt Romney's wife, in 2011 and 2012, announced her support for the Florida senator on Tuesday night. She is married to GOP Republican National Committeeman Steve Duprey, who remains neutral in the race.
Duprey also worked with her husband on John McCain's 2008 campaign and was New Hampshire finance committee co-chair for former President George W. Bush's 2004 campaign.
"Having worked for the previous four Republican nominees for President, I know what it takes to not only win the Republican primary, but also to take on the Democratic Party machine and win the general election," Duprey said in a statement. "Only one candidate meets that standard and that is Marco Rubio."
"After his strong showing in Iowa last night, momentum is breaking his way, and it has become abundantly clear that Marco Rubio is the best candidate for our party. I'm thrilled to throw my support behind Marco," the statement adds.
News of Duprey's endorsement was first reported by WMUR.
A CNN/WMUR poll released on Sunday found Rubio in third with 11% support among likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire. The Granite State holds its primary on February 9.
McCain needs Rubio to keep his Senate seat.
Trump means the end of McCain and finally a cleanup of the GOP Senate
All cut form the same cloth.
All establishment figures who look to promote the infighting of Cruz and Trump while they get their guy in pole position.
That's it; game over. We can all go home now.
Thank you Seek for putting a decent article up on here which is about the establishment.
I LOL on that I have to tell you as I started to sing that song looking at the picture
Rubio defeats Hillary in Nov ?
GOOD LUCK WITH THAT..
The Washington Post first reported that Rubio had registered as a federal lobbyist in the 2003 for the law firm Becker & Poliakoff. His campaign said the senator had no recollection of filing out the registration form, and a former associate who worked with Rubio at the law firm said that he could not recall Rubio lobbying the federal government
Marco is no liberal or even a moderate. He is too conservative for most of the establishment. They are fighting him tooth and nail and have spent over 60 million (so far) trying to stop him. He is a supporter of the tea party and has a foot in the door with the evangelicals because he really is a man of faith. He will win! His plan from the beginning, 3 - 2 - 1. Third in Iowa, Second in NH and 1st in South Carolina, he is on his way. Save the gang of eight crap, everyone was trying to do something on immigration even Cruz the author of George W.’s amnesty bill.
Saw Rubio stuttering like mad when Bush called him out on immigration. Clinton will go after him like he has never seen.
Sickening.
Though I think the guy is a maniac, I wish Cruz and Trump could have come to agreement and Ted could have spent 16 years in DC.
And advise Donald.
Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
I worked in Manhattan for 20 years
Saw the Trumpster in Rockefeller Plaza twice, since I worked there and he would pot in sometimes.
Oh, what a hoot! I was expecting it to be Sununu or someone like him who once mattered. This does serve as confirmation, though, that the "exstablishment" has now unified... around "Dondi 2016".
LOL yea right, he is no RINO. LOL. Surely you forgot your sarc tag
Rubio is a slimy elected official who will say anything to get elected.
I have never understood endorsements. I’m going to base my decision on a candidate’s past history and accomplishments. I could care less about who endorses him/her.
By the same logic, shouldn't the endorsement of the even more liberal Scott Brown preclude folks from supoorting Trump as well
Hello newbie poser!
Don’t worry Rubio will get excited and then put both feet in his mouth
Again, and I will keep asking this question ad nauseum.....WTF has Marco Rubio EVER done?
