NASHUA, N.H. - Still riding a wave of confidence after winning the Iowa Caucuses, Ted Cruz was in rare form Wednesday night as he mocked Donald Trump over everything from losing Iowa to a previous record of liberal policy positions.
"Have you noticed Donald doesn't take losing well?" he said at a town hall here. "Donald told us every day for a year he was going to win Iowa, win it big, win it 'yuuuuuge,'" he said, poking at Trump's speaking style.
"I don't think people are interested in temper tantrums, or you could call it a 'Trumpertantrum,'" he continued, when asked about a number of criticisms Trump has thrown at him recently, including that his Monday night win in Iowa was fraudulent.
Cruz's comments came hours after his first major escalation of attacks of the day, when he suggested Trump's temperament was so poor that he might be inclined to "nuke Denmark," and Cruz also suggested his young daughters were more mature than Trump.
On Wednesday night, Cruz gloated over a report that former Democratic President Jimmy Carter's comment that he would prefer Trump over Cruz because Trump would be "malleable." Cruz said he instructed his team to track down video of those remarks from Carter, who is deeply unpopular among Republicans.
"I read the article on my iPhone today, my comment to the team was, if there is video, get the video, I want the video, I'm going to pay to air Jimmy Carter's attack on me," he said.
When protesters interrupted Cruz, with some yelling about climate change, Cruz said it appeared that "these children attended the Donald Trump-style school of debate."
And when he was asked about his wife's ties to Goldman Sachs and an undisclosed loan from the bank in the Senate race, Cruz defended the move and pivoted back to Trump attacks. "Heidi and I did something that is very novel and unfamiliar to Donald: we paid it back," he said to applause. "We have never declared bankruptcy, we have never stiffed a loan, we have never walked out on a loan, we paid it back."
Cruz said Trump's last financial disclosure form showed he had millions of dollars in loans, and "it could literally be billions of dollars he owes."
"For him to make this attack, to use a New York term," Cruz said, "is the height of chutzpah."
CHORTLE!
Trump is now the butt of jokes and ridicule in his hometown New York tabloids.
And she is 100% pro abortion.
Trump is becoming a tragic parody of a serious candidate. His bizarre phony caricature of a conservative and his childlike temperament are making him a target rich environment for humorists and for other candidates.
“”Donald told us every day for a year he was going to win Iowa, win it big, win it ‘yuuuuuge,’” he said, poking at Trump’s speaking style.”
I’ve listened to almost all of Trump’s speeches and many of his interviews. He, at least in the past few weeks (don’t recall specifics prior to that and/or if he even mentioned it), but he said he thinks we’ll do well, I hope we do well, but we need people to get out and caucus.
Trump said his sister, who is pro-abortion, would be great for the Supreme Court. But what’s important is that whatever Trump says is right for those who support him.

Maryanne Trump Barry came up in my book The Party of Death for writing one of those heated judicial decisions in favor of giving constitutional protection to partial-birth abortion. She called a New Jersey law against it a âdesperate attemptâ to undermine Roe v. Wade. It was, she wrote, âbased on semantic machinations, irrational line-drawing, and an obvious attempt to inflame public opinion instead of logic or medical evidence.â It made no difference where the fetus was when it âexpired.â
So: The right of abortionists to make a child âexpireâ by partially extracting her from the womb, sticking scissors in the back of her head, vacuuming out her brain, and crushing her skull to complete her extraction, is right there in the Constitution. But letâs please not have any âsemantic machinations.â
Laws against partial-birth abortion had strong bipartisan support. They were attempts to mark an outer limit to the abortion right of Roe. If unborn children could not be protected within the womb, could they at least be protected when partway out? That would be illogical, said Judge Barry. But if the location of fetal death does not matter, then it could hardly matter if the child was all the way outside the womb. Laws against infanticide, too, must be dismissed as irrational line-drawing. The intellectual architect of the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, Hadley Arkes, mentions Judge Barryâs decision in his book on the origin of that law, explaining that it was in part designed to head off the dangerous implications of such rulings.
The Supreme Court eventually ruled that partial-birth abortion could be outlawedâbut it did so by a margin of one.

She is not just pro abortion. She wrote one of the most evil pro abortion judicial decisions ever. See my post # 57.
“Donald told us every day for a year he was going to win Iowa,” ( cruz said)
Donald’s been in the race approx 7 1/2 months, not a year.
Cruz can’t even speak truth of that!
Just how big a fish did you catch Ted - He tells whopper lies continually, even about small things!
so, Trump spoke all accurate information, just a longer span of time that it transpired over. It’s still all things Cruz did, was involved in.
Trump may be a poor loser...hell I am too...but the cuban or Canadian descent is certainly no magnanimous winner either...he is becoming annoying and is not what we see I fear...and rubio just a sweet talking “I wanta get in your panties” latino pussy front fo the gope! Look who is funding both of them. And then on the other side we three worse options, an old communist, an old communist, criminal hag, or the muslim one just decides to hang in there and our pusdo rep will just...ok!
Boy what a f*cked up country...truly is lost and will not suvive!
So which one counts more?
_________
I’d say the one that saw thru Ted’s manipulative ways and didn’t hang around to be an enabler.
and his wife was working with govt sacks...just another inside the belt way husband and wife tag team...he is establishment just like rubi
I can’t say I can blame him after the way Trump’s treated him and anyone else who dared to get in his way.
I know Trump supporters will be quick to cry that Cruz is alienating them should Trump get out. So what? They don’t seem to give a damn about losing Cruz supporters over the way The Donald⢠acts should he get out.
Yesterday? October 11th was yesterday? BTW, that is the day that Trump was asked about the SC and mentioned her and also said she was not interested.
Was it creepy that he even mentioned her in the first place? Damned right it was but it also appeared he was just trying to be nice in mentioning her. Not something I would thought was prudent.
[snip] Ronald Reagan first appointed Barry as a federal trial court judge, and Bill Clinton promoted her to the circuit court in June 1999. Trump has written that he closely followed his sister’s confirmation hearings and was angered when a Senate Judiciary Committee member â then-Sen. Bob Smith (R-N.H.) â grilled Barry on her views on abortion. [snip]
Bashing Trump for his obvious defeat, Cruz turned out to be a NOT so humble winner of the caucus circus.
At one time I thought Cruz might be a good choice for POTUS, not so sure any longer. Unfortunately I can say the same thing about Trump being the “poor loser”. Looking beyond those two, I see only darkness in the other candidates, especially the used car salesman Rubio. Its going to be a difficult decision between Cruz and Trump, the both have good and bad sides.
We ALL thought Roberts was a rock solid conservative so get over yourself.
Yes, Cruz is doubling down on Iowa. Like he said, all the things his campaign is accused of are just complaints by sore losers. So now the voters of New Hampshire must choose between cocky Canuck and New York values. May the best man win. |
*snort*
This is the funniest thing I've read all morning at FR.
