Donald Trump was told not to campaign there, but he insisted and garnered 24% of the vote. He did that with big rallies where he asked the people to come to him, and they did.
His opponent won the support of a variety of evangelical ministers and speakers who loathed Trump's big plane, his colorful language, the anger in his belly and his New York values among other things.
Trump did well, all things considered. He gave a Reaganesque speech that was congratulatory and far from a concession.
My friends, one week from now the results will be much different.
It’s Iowa.
Cruz spent weeks, tons of money, and might as well been their senator.
He leaves with one more delegate than Trump, and three states he can’t camp out in for months, and is trailing Rubio in the next one.
So any of these smug Cruz people should keep that in perspective while they run around acting as if Ted is headed anywhere but to collect the vaulted Iowa trophy for most prolific butt-kisser in a caucus season.
2020 is the year that system needs to be abolished.
The actual percentages with a difference of 3.34%.
Ted Cruz: 51,649 - 27.65%
Donald Trump: 45,416 - 24.31%
President Huckabee and President Santorum strongly disagree.
ps: Rubio's finish smells fishy - something happening in background for that amnesty sleezebag to finish a strong 3rd.
Lots of former rats jumping ship and voting for Rubio?
Trump did okay. Nothing to be ashamed of.
Rubio will be a different and more challenging target, compared with Cruz.
Looks like Trump has cut back on his appearances though. IIRC, he originally had two scheduled for today.
Good graphic.
I think people had their minds changed in the caucus sessions. Not hard to drop a fast talker among them. You see it at Board Meetings all the time.
Operation chaos within GOP ranks benefitting Rubio? And maybe Cruz too? Or just simply voters choices.
Reminds me of a time i was trying to get free Disney World theme park tickets in Orlando by just going to a seminar about a timeshare condo scheme. Yecccch, never again.
Folks listen - Rubio has a lot of support from every day folks who exist outside of FR. I know this is a shock but a young, good looking guy who smiles a lot and is moderate, has backing. Rubio should not be disregarded in this race...especially with establishment money rolling his way.
I posted this foreboding yesterday, and everyone climbs all on me. I sensed this was going to happen. YOu have a handful of people there that man handle the voter
I'm flummoxed why Iowa voters weren't more disgusted with "ShameGate". I wonder how that plays in NH.
I also wonder if it isn't Trump who left Iowa with friends and a lot of long term good will. Those last few days, he and his family really seemed to bond with the people there.
After yesterday’s posts, I think we should have someone else do the Trump rally threads.
Well I think Cruz does have momentum seeing he was supposed to lose Iowa according to many. That definitely helps. And you are forgetting one other very important factor - Rubio came on strong last night and almost beat Trump. I suspect Trump will start to have a very tough go of it in NH over this week. It will be interesting to see how Trump does in the debate. That will probably make him or break him in NH.
“Rubio’s finish smells fishy - something happening in background for that amnesty sleezebag to finish a strong 3rd”. .....
I have felt all along, and still do that Rubio is being “pushed” by the rino GOPer’s. To me, he is a used car/Florida swampland huckster who would essentially eliminate our borders so “his people” can overload our welfare system. It should be a “NO” vote for Rubio.
I’ve said many times here an Trump/Rubio ticket would be unstoppable...and Rubio can then speak Spanish...
lol
Advice for Trump— keep laying out why his business success is needed in Washington and in general why he would make a better president than the others. Cut the crap about Cruz’s Canadian birth and calling him a liar. Show more reaganeque teaching style and lose the arrogant, pompous ass schtick. Its ok to be brash just do it with class.
