Trump: Unlike Cruz, ‘I Have a Heart,’ I’ll Enact Universal Health Coverage
National Review ^ | January 31, 2016 12:20 PM | Tom S. Elliott

In an interview this morning on This Week, Donald Trump cited his desire to "help people" as the reason he favors government-funded universal health coverage. Unlike Ted Cruz, Trump said, "I have a heart."

"If somebody has no money and they're lying in the middle of the street and they're dying, I'm going to take care of that person," Trump said.

I did not see Trump using the term “Universal Health Care”
Is this more yellow journalism?
He specifically states his idea is NOT single player
and is not yet a plan, but a concept of working with hospital etc...this is how CEO’s roll. Put people to work on it and see what they come up with to solve the problem

He always cites the down and out, and veterans, being cared for. I think he has a vision of MEDICAID, improved. That is NOT “Universal healthcare”

But of course the headline is all people will see
That is what the media wants

Ironically they may be giving democrats and “moderates” an incentive to crossover and vote Trump

They’ll never listen.

Nor will they remember this thread when they are waiting in a 6 month long line to deal with their abscessed tooth.

“It appears you are ignoring Trump’s solutions or are ignorant of them.”

Sounds like you are, actually - here’s some catching up for you:

Trump attacks conservatives and what we stand for - it is the government’s role “to take care of everybody” - “get used to it, conservatives!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3ULSN70tuo&index=14&list=PLJcbhHQDR9da0H3-Qs-7WEEj6tam9vlh3

Trump supported amnesty for illegal immigrants / pathway to citizenship all the way up to June 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Enw6Yx19qSg&index=21&list=PLJcbhHQDR9da0H3-Qs-7WEEj6tam9vlh3

Trump supports universal healthcare, states his view is an “unRepublican thing to say” - “The Government’s Gonna pay for it!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwN6sU4onFQ&index=12&list=PLJcbhHQDR9da0H3-Qs-7WEEj6tam9vlh3

Have a listen:

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/day-iowa-caucus-donald-trump-surprised-lead/story?id=36617227

Trump clearly refers to “a small percentage of our population who are down and out” who can’t afford it.As always Trump clarified that he’s talking about the poor and that he will repeal Obamacare.

Yet in the NR title and article, the reference is to Trump saying he’ll government fund universal healthcare.

Single payor, or socialism only works when everyone works equally as hard to pay for benefits. Socialism , or single payor, does not work when only a portion of people are working, and the rest are takers. That is why socialism and single payor healthcare would never work in this country. In the rare instance when everyone worked equally hard for the common good, and there was a surplus in healthcare money, the government would take it to fund other items, at the same time cutting healthcare benfits. Open your eyes, your statement is quite foolish.

Socialism and single payer healthcare don’t work anywhere.

Government involvement with any part of health simply does not work.

That drip...drip....drip is the left of center philosophy that Trump will gradually spoon to his adoring masses. Well, here at FR, at least the duped have been warned.

Yes actually you can be turned away from private hospitals but the county hospitals do have to take you. So you can get treatment.

Honestly I’m not hard hearted enough to want to let people die in the street. I just don’t want single payer universal healthcare.

Lets face it this was never about healthcare its about control. Otherwise the Congress could easily have come up with a patch to cover the 16 million or so chronically uninsured.

There are countless solutions to our healthcare problems that are fairly cost efficient its just that you will never get a group of hack politicians to do anything smart.

Just like a typical Leftist: if you don’t believe in nationalized health care, you “don’t have a heart.”

Trump is a demented con artist who couldn’t string 3 coherent sentences together conveying conservative ideology, which is exactly what we need post-Obama.

Every vote for Trump is a vote for Hillary. The Dems are salivating at the prospect of running against this hypocritical, ignorant, insulting fool.

“So, are you saying that you won’t support the nominee unless it’s Trump? “

No, I’m saying the the level of vitriol from Cruz supporters (the the pro-Cruz bloggers) the past two months in order to brow-beat people into support him, will not be rewarded with some “kiss and make up” vote from me if he happened to be the nominee.

Going around calling people fake Christians, fake conservatives, closet liberals, cultists, and similar garbage just because they aren’t backing Cruz is not something anyone should be required to put up with.

” I believe Jim Robinson has already stated that anyone who takes that position is getting a ZOT. “

“Would you like to clarify your position so we can decide whether or not to ping him?”

Actually that isnt what he said, so I’ll advise you to not threaten me like that in the future. You arent going to hold a gun to my head and demand compliance like some sniveling thug.

You have allowed yourself to be duped.

Trump has repeatedly said that his plan is Canadian style “health care.”

In Canada, all health workers must work for the government.

Private practice is a felony.

Before you go insane lets realize that Trump won’t enact anything. The Congress passes legislation not the President. Getting those worthless hacks to do anything is like herding cats.

What Trump will do is get those worthless hacks to repeal Obamacare. What comes next nobody knows yet.

Trump is going to secure that border come hell or high water because he wants to prove he can do it. He will build that wall just to prove it. Fine I just want it built.

Trump will re-negotiate those trade agreements because he really is pizzed that we are getting taken to the cleaners and he’s a combative alpha male who knows how to negotiate and he has 10 buddies who can help him.

If he does nothing more than what I just outlined I’ll be happy.

Most physicians do not like Medicare because of the low pay and the government regulations that could throw a physician in jail due to a coding error. Medicare is a huge hassle. Multiply that by every citizen in this country on some type of socialized program, you will have a mass exodus of physicians. Why go to school and put up with that, with the intelligence physicians have, they can go into many good careers.

The frauds at NR have no problem with the Rinos funding Obamacare.

The fact that no Republican since the 1960s have adequately addressed the need to reform (meaning: get the federal government the Hell out of it) healthcare shows that anybody who attacks Trump on the issue has zero credibility whatsoever.

- Medicare/Medicaid in the 60s: Republicans did nothing.
- Hillarycare: The grassroots and conservative groups stopped this, not the RNC or elected Republicans.
- SCHIP: Republicans did nothing
- Obamacare: Olympia Snowe voted for cloture, which allowed it to go to the floor.
- Post-Obamacare: Republicans continue to fund it.

“Single payer can work quite well with aggressive oversight. It could also require competition for contracts.”

Are you insane? You do realize that you are on FR. Single payer? By the F-ing fascist Feds? Oversight? What something like the EPA, IRS, BLM, DOJ, NSA, DHS?

The only aggressive oversight you will get is the government sticking it’s fat fingers into your colonic cavity and telling you to that you’re loving it. Don’t you get it. The Federal government is 666 full throated evil. They are the beast and with single payer it won’t be long until your chipped.

I knew a government worker, made a decent salary but cheated enough to be able to use the emergency room as her health plan. I believe Trump will find this and be able to narrow the free care to only the needy.

If you really think about it, why should only the suckers that have a job, that makes them independent, be required to pay for healthcare at all since, it is free to those that don't work? It is simply a tax like Roberts said.
