I think it might have been . But once they started to see the controversy they had to nix them.

Trace Adkins played for Red Cross. I believe that is another one mired in scandal over the years because of use of funds etc . I remember a Vet saying to me they had to pay Red Cross back for assistance they received. I have no idea if true.

Trace played for them because they came to his aid after a fire.

My father, a WWII vet, hated the Red Cross because he said that they charged the soldiers in the field for the donuts and coffee they brought. He would never give them a dime the rest of his life. He was in France during the war.

One of my troops had his father die. The red cross called the squadron and had already arranged a ticket home for him.

Months later he go a letter from a collection agency for $400 the red cross had referred to them. He was never told of the bill nor notified of any action to collect it up until then.

We wound up passing the hat for some relief but he got stuck with part of the bill. When the collection agency found out the circumstances from our commander, they treated him pretty well considering.

In later actions we always referred the troops to the Salvation Army who took much better care of them in times of family strife.
