Gallup: Trump Highest Unfavorable Rating Ever Recorded
Conservative Review ^ | January 30th, 2016 | Chris Pandolfo

Posted on 01/30/2016 7:09:59 PM PST by Isara

A Gallup poll found that Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump is the most unpopular candidate of either major U.S. political party when the entire American population is taken into account.

Take a look at the numbers:

“At this point (two-week average through Jan. 27), 33% of Americans view Trump favorably and 60% unfavorably. It's that 60% unfavorable figure that I can focus on here.

Hillary Clinton currently has a 52% unfavorable rating among all Americans, while Jeb Bush is at 45%, Chris Christie 38%, Ted Cruz 37%, Marco Rubio 33%, Bernie Sanders 31% and Ben Carson 30%. Trump's 60% is clearly well above all of these. Putting his favorable and unfavorable ratings together yields a net favorable of -27 for Trump, far above the -10 for Clinton and for Bush, the next lowest among the major candidates.”

Currently, Donald Trump has a higher unfavorability rating than any nominated candidate from either major political party since Gallup began tracking favorability in 1992.

“The bottom line is that Trump now has a higher unfavorable rating than any candidate at any time during all of these previous election cycles, and that conclusion takes into account the fact that unfavorable ratings tend to rise in the heat of a general election campaign as the barbs, negative ads and heightened partisanship are taken to their highest levels.”

These numbers could spell trouble for Mr. Trump in the general election, should he win the Republican nomination. Iowa will be the first state in the country to vote for the Republican nominee on Monday.

“The article is from Mark Levin’s publication.”

Good observation. I wonder if anyone else is touting this poll. Does Gallup have any impact anymore?

Means nothing. As Ed Rollins, Pres. Reagan’s campaign manager, has said once it’s a one on one with Hillary or Bernie all that will change for a Trump victory.

But I always hear the Mark say that he hasn’t endorsed anyone yet. Of course he says this will trashing everyone but Cruz.

Those results are from the people they asked, not the whole country.

They never say “we asked 1000 people in these areas about x, y, and z, and we got these results”.

Who cares? The general election is a choice. Trump or Hillary. I’m pretty sure once Trump is done with her she’ll have 70% unfavorables. He will gut her.

If there is anything left to gut with all her crimes now so well known.

He is the only one of the top 4-5 Republican candidates to trail Hillary Clinton in the polls.

The pollsters make it look like they asked everyone.

They never say “x percent of the 1000 people we asked...”

1. The polling and statistics here are valid - Frank Newport is one of the best and most honest mathematically (I rarely agree with his politics, but I know him very well). He would not bias his analysis or his sample to slant the results.

2. The conclusions are unimportant. Just as Ross Perot had high unfavorable ratings, since he was not identified with either major party, Trump at this point has similar unfavorable ratings. We are comparing an outsider this year with insiders in the major parties for all previous years, so the difference tells us nothing (positive or negative) about whether Trump is electable.

Yep, we are dealing with the mentally unstable. The good news is that Trump will help them.

...How is his national poll numbers so high if he is so unfavorable? Explain that dichotomy Gallup?
Yes, exactly.   I think the answer is they did 10 polls, and the one that came out the worst is the one they chose to report.   It's called lying with statistics.

And it's also called banking the GOPe money while donors are still spending.

The weird thing is I heard that Gallup was getting out of the political polling business.   I guess if the bait is tempting enough, they will stick around.

Trump is just not a likable man. He is childish, petty, amoral and downright mean. He seems to be a very miserable man.

His supporters maintain he is the only GOP candidate that can win. That he can win dark blue states like NY, MA, NJ, MI, WI, CT, etc. With a 60% unfavorable rating, he won’t win those states or light blue states that he needs to win like OH, FL, VA, CO, NV.

Trump will be a disaster for teh GOP if he is nominated.

What do mean?

You just posted that, “72% of GOP voters depise/loathe/detest Trump.”

Now, that is truly pitiful Trump "support".

Can't even exert the effort to put the "for sale" sign in the same plane as the side of the bus -- much less make it conform to the surface.

Not even a respectable 4th-grader effort.

I used to enjoy FReepers for their intellect and cleverness; now, this place is no fun, at all...

That’s okay. The pollsters alleged Trump had high unfavorable ratings in the GOP. And now that he appears ready to show one of the strongest primary performances ever, they allege that Trump has turned that around.

I have every confidence that the pollsters will show that Trump has turned around high unfavorable ratings across both parties before his landslide victory in November.
