Senate probe faults government for migrant child abuse

Migrant children in the government’s care were placed in U.S. homes and left vulnerable to human trafficking due to sometimes non-existent screening by the Department of Health and Human Services, according to a congressional report released Thursday.

The investigation says HHS failed to run background checks on the adults in the sponsors’ households, failed to visit sponsors’ homes and failed to realize some sponsors were accumulating multiple unrelated children, which can be a sign of human trafficking.

Rob Portman on the Lead with Jake Tapper said that HHS is responsible.

These unaccompanied children were coming to be “reunited” with family members and in many cases there were no family members here.

The men and woman charged, as well as their associates, recruited families in Guatemala as long ago as 2011, promising safe passage to their children, protection and a good education.

Instead, authorities say, the workers were forced to live in run-down and unsafe trailers that Castillo-Serrano owned — some without heat in winter — in the Oakridge Estates mobile-home park on Marion-Agosta Road in Marion.

According to the indictment, some of the victims were forced to work 12 hours a day, sometimes seven days a week, cleaning chicken coops, loading and unloading crates of chickens and de-beaking and vaccinating them.

It was always a scam to bring the kids (14-18 year old unaccompanied males!) into the US, then bring the rest of the democrat voters into the US to be re-united with the first male here.
