Trump Refuses To Reconsider Debate In Fiery Fox Interview

In the contentious interview with O'Reilly, Trump rebuffed the anchor's attempts to convince him that he's making a grave error by skipping the debate.

"I believe personally that you want to improve the country," O'Reilly said. "By doing this, you miss the opportunity to convince others ... that is true.

"You have in this debate format the upper hand -- you have sixty seconds off the top to tell the moderator, 'You're a pinhead, you're off the mark and here's what I want to say'. By walking away from it, you lose the opportunity to persuade people you are a strong leader."

But O'Reilly's pitch fell flat with Trump. The GOP front-runner dug in his heels, insisting he intended to retaliate against the network by depriving them of ratings.

While the debate among a couple of high-profile personalities rages in front of the camera, we hear that there is an even uglier battle going on behind the scenes! What are they fighting about? Tens of millions of dollars! Here’s the deal: Advertisers paid a certain rate to advertise on a certain TV show based on a variety of factors (network, time slot, audience size, demographics, etc.) In the case of the Super Bowl, advertisers don’t make their buys contingent on any one athlete playing in the game. However, in the case of our show, the players – and one player in particular – matter a lot. If the star player doesn’t show, the audience size may shrink drastically, not only for the show itself, but for pre- and post-shows as well. Network executives are refusing to bend to the star’s demands to ensure his attendance. Angry advertisers are threatening to pull out of ad buys if network execs don’t deliver the star and the audience. Everybody is unhappy and yelling at each other. What’s at risk? Almost $20 Million!

It was a good interview. Trump was calm and composed. O’Reilly did most of the talking and seemed a little desperate.

This will be a huge humiliation for Fox.

Fox just hit an Iceberg.

tweeting out an insult to trump and then having michael moore on was the equivalent of a death row inmate putting nembutal into his arm himself.

Yep. O’Reilly did what he was told to do and pressured Trump very hard to reconsider. He used some silly guise of forgiving a debt of milkshakes owed by Trump, but Trump refused, and called O’Reilly to task for breaking a pre-interview promise not to ask that question. O’Reilly admitted he’d gone back on his word, but that the milkshake gambit was just too tempting. It was an OK interview but O’Reilly begging was transparently following Ailes orders “You know Trump, you get him to reconsider, dammit!”

“You know Trump, you get him to reconsider, dammit!”...20m is on the line!

Fox wrote that immature, idiotic statement and Trump doesn't need them. Then O’Reilly talks about him not being Presidential. Please. Trump's point about this as an example of negotiating strength was right on.

It's time for Fox News to grow up. It's been a long time coming.
