[Vanity] Why would Trump bother to negotiate with Pelosi?

Posted on 01/26/2016 7:44:32 PM PST by dangus

Trump has been boasting of late about how great his relationship with Nancy Pelosi is. Apparently, he still thinks she's "the best," as he wrote in his fawning love letter to her in 2007, when Pelosi took over the House and set about sabotaging the U.S. economy.

Maybe some FReepers are (to my surprise) of the notion that if you have to have to negotiate with liberals, so be it. But why does Trump think he will have to? After all, the Republicans hold a solid majority of the House of Representatives, and there's no hint of a tide turning towards the Democrats in the local level.

And how exactly does he expect to win her -- and Chucky Schumer -- over? He's aped Cruz's promise to repeal Obamacare; he's aped Cruz' promise to rescind Obama's executive-order amnesty.

Given that budget-cutting bills only need 50 votes to pass in the senate, and any bill only needs 50% to pass in the House, surely his safer bet would be trying to keep conservatives happy. So what makes him think he'll need radical leftists to join him? Why does he think radical leftists are more likely to vote for his plans than conservatives?

If he's so confident that Pelosi, Schumer and the open-borders lobby will love his plan, why should conservatives be so confident in him? Are we really winning to sell off our country just for the tingle of glee shooting up our leg that Trump is being politically incorrect?

I am going to so love seeing you TDS suffers eat your words in future.

That or reading the numerous Opuses posted by CruZers when their boy goes down in flames.

I imagine most of us will never know the details of how Trump will twist the arms of filth like SanFranNan, but the results are all I care about.

Hopefully a lot of them will head for the retirement door because he is playing for keeps.

Pointing out the lifelong inconsistencies of a candidate is now considered a "derangement syndrome"?

There was a time when a guy with a lifelong record of contributing to the Clintons and Pelosi and Reid and Schumer and Obama and every other leftist that has contributed to the destruction of this country would be met with a bit of skepticism.

Not anymore.

Now the same guy who has spent millions of dollars contributing to the people who have brought this country down is the ONLY GUY WHO CAN MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN?

Are we that naive here?

Trump is just another politician tickling the ears of the voters. He is not the Savior of America.

The coarseness of dialog on this forum is pretty bad these days. There was a time when such a comment would have been grounds for a suspension.

This used to be a forum that you wouldn't mind your children reading. Now F bombs and S Bombs are more common than compliments.

It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great Nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religious, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I would think that someone with that as the first sentence on their forum page would not stoop to using the F bomb in support of a Candidate with somewhat questionable Christian credentials.

Can't we discuss these issues without resorting to childish insults and F bombs?

It used to be FR was conservative, with reasoned posts and information, your post supporting trump shows not the case any longer.

Just because he says he can doesn’t mean he will. Trump is aiming for the “undecideds” who don’t like conflict between parties. Besides most people on FreeRepublic, few others want to hear someone say hes going to kick the other side’s butt it’s just politics.

LOL!

That was a joke.

Now tell the mods to delete your F Bombs.

I imagine trump negotiating with pelosi. I don’t think it’s the same type or amount of effort he would put into negotiating with someone with near or above average intelligence or moral standards

I don’t think Trump will have the GOP votes to get his left leaning stuff passed.

Trump has a great relationship with Democrats because he is one of them.

I have no doubt in my mind a Trump presidency will be a disaster for this country. All he is speaking now is rhetoric. He will carry none of it out. But he will make deals with the Democrats and the country will lose yet again.

“’Pointing out the lifelong inconsistencies of a candidate is now considered a “derangement syndrome”?”

Dealing with a Trump supporter is NO different than dealing with an 0bama supporter. They both love their guy with cult like passion. Any facts pointed out about their guy that is not beneficial to their guy is deemed to be lie, attack or “derangement” on your part. They are unwilling to face the facts. They are unwilling to see any flaw in their guy. The “derangement” really is their problem.

Look, if he said, “And if, God forbid, the Democrats retake the House and Senate — and they won’t because I am the Supreme God-Emperor of the Universe — I can negotiate with them,” what you’re saying would make sense.

But no... he’s not only promising he’ll negotiate with them, he’s ALREADY CAPITULATED! He’s now saying that he’ll turn around and give all those illegal aliens he’ll deport green cards and a pathway to citizenship!

Here's the full quote.

ARRRGH.

Why does he have to use 300 words to express what could be said in half or fewer?

Reminds me of a three card monte hustler.

There's nobody I would rather have negotiating for me.

OK. Would you not want to know what, if anything is non-negotiable?

For example, he's been back and forth on funding for Planned Parenthood (the "good" parts).

What exactly IS his bottom line?

What about pro-life legislation? Has his thinking gone beyond superstars and losers? Could he negotiate away the losers' lives?

Don't you want a full picture of what your negotiator is representing for you and why, so you can assure yourself that all your interests are being protected?

Other examples could be given.
