President Obamaâs last year in office is shaping up as the Year of the Veto.
After vetoing only seven bills over the first seven years of his presidency, Mr. Obama has vetoed two measures already in January. Whatâs more, the White House has issued veto threats against all five pieces of legislation to come out of the House since Jan. 1, from a measure to cut âburdensomeâ government regulations to a bill that would give Congress greater oversight of the Iranian nuclear deal. A House vote on the latter is scheduled for the week of Feb. 1.
Gives away the farm in Omnibus bill to fully fund Obama's last year without restrictions, the ONLY leverage Ryan has as Speaker. Then he tries to ideologically pass laws knowing they will NEVER be implemented. What possible good is that? He blew it with approving Omnibus in spite of majority GOP opposition.
Obama is playing chess, while Ryan is playing marbles in the sandbox.
NOW he forces a veto.
Ryan is an idiot.
Too little, too late Lyin’ Ryan—you already gave away the farm you pathetic foolish RINO.
Anyone primarying Ryan yet?? If he does not get primaries he will likely remain RINO of the House in the next Congress.
Ryan talks a good game.
The political establishment will allow show votes when it does not matter. Remember Reid allowed those two pieces of legislation to pass in the Senate in exchange for the Omnibus passing.
If we elect anyone other than Trump this behavior will continue. I will support Cruz but I know he will just be run over by the GOPe establishment as he has been since he was elected. Yes he will try to fight but they do not fear him.
While I share your thoughts on Trump being outside the establishment, I have the same impression about Obama. Both are populists. It is all about them.
In Obama’s case, think about the ‘establishment’ as the Clinton machine which got whitewashed(no pun intended) in 2008 by an outsider that had no record and was ‘popular’ because of that and his skin color.
The parallel is there with Trump. He is an outsider, though a record of business that is enviable, is without a record of governmental service, and is a proven narcissist. It will be all about him.
Is that good? We will have to see. Certainly in Obama’s case, it clearly was not and was destructive to the extreme.
The most famous populist I can think of in the US was Huey P. Long. He commanded legions who blindly followed him to denigrate his state that remains that way.
Fool, you’ve already given him a check for everything he wanted......
Not only that, Ryan worked on that bill with Boehner, Obama, whoever as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. That budget was as much or more his as anyone else’s.
Then he acts like it just got dropped on him when he became Speaker.
The House GOPe majority just don’t know how to use the power of the purse!
