Trump just announced he is not doing the debate this week. Seems that along with not liking Megyn Kelly, Fox just issued some email that insulted him. Some message about Putin and him.
He said he will likely not change his mind.

I like Ted, but he would never do this. He would debate it like all politicians would.
Idealism is a great attribute, unfortunately, in this climate, you need Practical Idealism to win the day. Or, you must be a pure conservative candidate with enormous wealth, unafraid to stair the media down and unapologetic in your defense, belief and impletation of conservatism and our Constitution. Unfortunately, Mr. Cruz is missing one or two that are vitally important. One, is he was born in Canada.
The moderators will not change the way they operate because Trump is not there. Same old, same old.
I will watch because it will give the other candidates more time to express their views without Trump being a constant destraction.
Will it open up a slot for a candidate from the second tier? Does he want those voices heard without him being there to correct anything he might think is incorrect?
Maybe not in Iowa, but this show has a long way to go. The take-my-marbles approach may not play well in the rest of the country.

The debate will get terrible ratings if Trump isn’t there. I know I won’t watch.

I’d much prefer Trump go on and do the debate. After August 6th, and the NR hatefest she convened last week, which backfired on her and gave Trump another points bump, she knows she’ll know she’s being watched and judged.
I’d expect her to be mild and courteous, as though she’d just had her butt smacked; which, after a fashion, she HAS.
That was one of the nastiest statements a network has ever issued about a candidate. Who do they think they are? Ailes had to approve it, what a clown.
I believe you are right, and the alternate show just might bring a bigger rating.

I looked at his twitter and there is no mention of him skipping the debate, just a survey asking for votes on whether he should. You people need to check the source, half of these anti trump articles a all out lies.

I'm so ancient, I remember when Presidential debate moderators were expected to at least have the appearance of impartiality. And we liked it! (tm)
