Trump: I'll work with Democrats
The Hill ^ | 26 Jan 16 | Jesse Byrnes

Posted on 01/26/2016 9:45:02 AM PST by elhombrelibre

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is stressing his bona fides as a dealmaker who'd be able to enter the White House and work with congressional Democrats to hammer out agreements.

"I think I'm going to be able to get along with Pelosi — I've always had a good relationship with Nancy Pelosi," Trump said Tuesday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," referring to the House minority leader.

"Reid's going to be gone. I've always had a decent relationship with Reid," Trump said, referring to Harry Reid (D-Nev.), the Senate minority leader. "I always had a great relationship with Harry Reid."

Trump said he thought he'd get along with "just about everybody," including Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), likely to be the next Senate Democratic leader, who Trump said he was "close to ... in many in ways."

He partners with Democrats and funds them. You know Trump is a sissy. He’s scared of Megyn Kelly. What a wimp.

“Trump is a wussy. He’s afraid of Megyn Keely.”

He’s RIGHTLY afraid of being set up. He has at least 3 pieces of evidence that was the plan:

1) Reuse Keely, who was universally acknowledged to have been compromised in the first debate.

2) The tweet from Fox mention an Iran/Saudi conspiracy as his reason for waffling

3) Bringing in a terrorist supporter to the audience.

What is not known is how much pre-coordination has been going on between Fox and the GOPe.

Best move, by far - stay clear.

You’re welcome. But a reply without a zinger is like tandoori without habanero.

Having eaten both frog legs and alligator tail, I disagree.
While my home is modest, I wouldn’t call it a cracker box.
LOL

Still, I will say passing a bunch of laws just to get things done, usually has lead to the good old “law of unintended consequences.”

Pass a law that looks good on paper, more often than not, leads to some adverse reaction that hadn’t been thought through, like higher taxes, regulations, more government bureaucracies to implement the law, etc.

It tends to be a “they win, we lose” situation, more likely than not.

No thank you, I’ll pass.

Devolve the Federal government back to its constitutional constraints, checks and balances, and then we will have something to cheer about.

I just got around to watching the video. Holy mackerel! I didn’t know he said 80% of that stuff. It is indefensible.

How any self described “conservative” could not only vote for this guy in a primary but also come on a conservative forum like this and bang the drum for him is beyond my comprehension.

I could possibly be convinced to vote for him in the general solely on the hope that maybe he was actually telling the truth about his conversion. Certainly the top 5 things he mentions on the campaign trail would be great things to happen. If he actually cares about them at all, I am confident that his ego would drive him to get them done. On the other hand I don’t think I could be convinced to vote for any of the Republican’t. For me it is Cruz or lose.

Yep. It’s about winning for me. Next question?

Then you should become a Democrat. They win more often than Republicans.

Let me guess. You were probably a Dallas Cowboys fan at the beginning of the season. Then you changed to a Patriots fan. Now you probably love them Panthers. It's about winning, right?

Republicans used to love winners. That’s before the RINOs took over. Lee Atwater was a winner. Reagan was a winner.

Tne modern GOP is full of losers.

If Cruz wants to look like a winner, he’ll walk too.

Yeah, it’s disgusting. I don’t get it. We want to stop Hillary, so let’s ignore that Trump’s been a Hillary clone with billions until he decided to take over the Republican party.

"Ummmmm, because the Donald is working so well with them already... they are under his thumb... they are supporting his candidacy and campaign... they are singing his praises... SMH."

It's not their vote Donald needs to win the election. It's ours.

Once Trump is in office, he will work with them. He'll negotiate, he'll sell them on his ideas, he'll use leverage including the veto and threat of veto, he'll work with voters to put pressure on them, he'll even use the bully pulpit if necessary and call them out name by name. He'll do what is necessary to get the job done. He'll play nice if they will. He'll play hardball if they insist.

I'm no neophyte. I was a consulting engineer for more than a decade. The prevailing opinion in our firm was that construction outfits and developers included some of the worst political crooks in America.

I never deigned to work for them.

See also #285. Nitzy's most important word in that post is indefensible.(Maybe you're the neophyte, all of your tough Trumpeting notwithstanding.)

He's the one who chickened out.

Why should he go on there if he knows it won't benefit him? Seriously, republican candidates should have done this years ago.

Just think of other candidates had done this years ago, we might not have had McCain or some of the other establishment types getting the nomination. I don't blame Cruz for calling Trump on this. He has to. He has to get his numbers up.

If Cruz pulls a head of Trump and wins the nomination, just think how the liberal media will go after Cruz. Cruz should be able to have the same power to decide what kind of debate he should be in.

Well, we’ll see how much Trump whines when the other candidates attack him in this forum. Then, it will be another chance for him to play the crybaby.

I’m no neophyte either. I am one of two women who held a Certified General Contractor’s licensee in Florida. Florida and California are the toughest states, tougher than New York. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. I didn’t build houses. My license was for highrise buildings and mega developments. There is NO higher qualification in the construction industry.
I get very tired of people assuming a woman doesn’t know anything about “engineering” and such “men’s” fields, and think they can talk down to me because of my name. Get off your highhorse. I hired and fired engineers.
Now, do you want to stick to the subject, or do you want to continue your ego trip?
