Former New York Mayor and 2008 Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, who hasn't yet endorsed a candidate, said if it came down to GOP frontrunner Donald Trump versus Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), he would vote for Trump.
"If it came down to Trump or Cruz, there is no question I'd vote for Trump," Giuliani, who was mayor during the 9-11 terrorist attack, said. "As a party, we'd have a better chance of winning with him, and I think a lot of Republicans look at it that way."
The statement comes as The Washington Post is reporting that the GOP establishment is "learning to live with" the fact that Trump is likely to become the Republican Party's nominee and even seeing "an upside to Trump as the nominee."
"This warming toward Trump comes after establishment favorites such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) of Florida, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida governor Jeb Bush have failed to reach the top tier," reports The Washington Post's Robert Costa, Philip Rucker, and David Fahrenthold.
"Between Trump and Cruz, it's not even close," Rep. Peter King (R-NY) said discussing the two candidates, but not yet endorsing anyone. "Cruz isn't a good guy, and he'd be impossible as president. People don't trust him. And regardless of what your concern is with Trump, he's pragmatic enough to get something done. I also don't see malice in Trump like I see with Cruz."
The Post reports:
Many have decided that Trump -- for all his faults -- is better. For one thing, many Republicans in Congress especially despise Cruz, who has a history of picking long-shot fights and blaming other Republicans when he is unsuccessful.

And what did Beck do for Cruz?
It's a two way street, drop the tit for tat, it just might elevate the conversation here.
Yeah.. I can’t figure out why the Rudy supporters got zotted to the cheers of FR but now Trump is celebrated? Something did a number on this forum.
Of course he would, Trump isn’t a solid conservative like Cruz is.
:)
If that is not an endorsement what is?
The RINO GOP elite, not getting their Bush, is showing their true colors - as always, against the Conservative party base.
Of course. Trump is from NY and Cruz is from Texas. It’s not just a liberal vs conservative idealogy thing here. It is also a regional identity thing.
Nope, Rudy outed not trusTED Ted as someone who blames others, for his mistakes/faults.
CRuz also likes to blame his staff, for a lot of his recent ‘overlooks’, as well. Not a good trait, for a person you want getting things fixed, in DC.
This make Sessions, and now Rudy, who’ve agreed that Trump is the known negotiator.
Well, if Trump gets the nomination I think he might get Ny to vote his way...does anyone remember the last election won by. Republican.
:)
New York Values.
Not surprised either. I remember Rudy’s campaign for president. As one would expect, a tough law and order guy, and supported a strong military. After that, he was “New York values” personified; pro-choice, pro-sodomite, etc.
And here comes the Cruz Brigade hammering Rudy and Trump for being moderates and establishment. Of course, the fact that Trump seems to be defeating one by one a deep bench of contenders is lost on them. Say what you want, but Rubio, Christie, Jeb, Carson, Cruz, Rand, and yes even Kasich are a hell of a lot deeper than Mitt, Newt and Santorum, or McCain, Romney and Huckabee. While i have no misunderstandings about the fact that the establishment is attaching to Trump for their own survival, Trump LED them to him. He didn’t atrach themselves to them. Trump has run a decidedly conservative campaign and his ideas and yes personality are winning. Cruz supporters would do well to ask themselves why, the supposedly most conservative candidate in a generation can’t break 20% and cannot attract a following? Cruz can run an outsider campaign all he wants, but if he can’t attract anyone to it, he’s going nowhere. But the answer to the question is that Cruz is really an insider. And being on the inside, he can’t get anyone to follow him which is the crux of the problem.
We have a one-mile long path along the fence of the nearby Army Fort that connects two hiking trails. I have to unload my weapon and carry it unloaded when I go from one trail to the other. It is going to be so great not to have to do that come January 21, 2017!
Not surprised. Rudi is a social liberal and RINO. Great NY mayor but not a true conservative. New York values sticking together.
Duh. He was the “Rudy” in the Rudymcromneybee.
That confirms that Cruz is on the right path.
Rudi is an establishment guy.
