Sen. Joni Ernst is set to appear on the campaign trail Monday with Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio with only a week until the Iowa caucuses kick off.
Ernst, who maintained she is remaining neutral in the race, will be introducing Rubio at an event in Des Moines.
"Our nation faces exponential threats, and over the past year, I've had the opportunity to work alongside Marco Rubio on issues critical to our national security," Ernst said in a statement. "Marco is not only a strong conservative and a good friend, but someone that I trust to secure our country."
"As I have made clear, I will not be endorsing in the caucuses; that is a promise I will maintain to Iowans," Ernst continued. "On Monday, I look forward to introducing Marco to more Iowans and discussing the important work needed to keep our nation safe and secure."
The news of Ernst's appearance comes a day after longtime Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley appeared at Donald Trump's rally in Pella. Grassley is also reportedly set to introduce Cruz at a post-debate campaign event on Friday evening in Vinton, according to a Cruz spokeswoman.
The Rubio campaign is looking to capitalize on momentum from Saturday, when they snagged endorsements from the Des Moines Register, Iowa's largest newspaper, and the Sioux City Journal over the likes of Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz, who are currently topping polling in the state according to the latest RealClearPolitics average.

Rubio might be saving that money for Florida. If he loses Florida badly, he is pretty much toast.
Why not have Rubio ramp it up With Trump and Cruz wacking each other out. Rubio might just slip in there.
But this battle is about
Businessman deal maker Trump who also owns Goldman Sachs stock

In surprize move in with the GOPES Where Trump even out does the regime, advocates expanded mandated use Ethanol. Because he thinks it will help him carry IOWA . Which also begs the question of Just how heavily invested is Mr.Trump in Ethanol ?
Defeating Cruz in Iowa would seal the deal while getting the Trumpkins all worked up
Thank You
Look at it from another angle. On what issues are Ernst & Rubio much different from each other? You will not find many.
Gosh, maybe folks should have listened to those of us who were warning them about this woman, because we had actually paid attention to who and what she was in the Iowa state senate, and who it was that was backing her run.
Trump probably owns a lot of different stocks. Heck, even little me, own a lot of different stocks. What does that mean? Not much. Every mutual fund buyer owns stocks in hundreds of companies.
Anybody who wants to leave a message for J. Ernst can phone her at 202-224-3254 or they can email her at her website (where they have to leave name & address) at www.ernst.senate.gove

Jodi just made a big, long-term mistake. Supporting a pro-Amnesty candidate is a bad move. Either we’ll stop Amnesty and purge all the traitors who supported it, or there will be no country left. One way or the other, she’s out of a job.
She gave a rebuttal speech one time and she was absolutely awful. I hope a conservative replaces her the next time around.
I have said it in another thread, Rubio is getting hammered with negative ads in Iowa. The guy is still upright and taking nourishment. That is worth something. The paper endorsement will at least bring some positive attention his way. My point is: Maybe, just maybe we will get a three-way race for the next month.
Ernst is the real deal. She should be introducing and singing the praises of these candidates.
Unless she changes her mind, which seemed unlikely. Not enough time to put much pressure on her.
“Ernst is yet another GOPe quisling.”
Remember how she was going to “make’em squeal”?

Apparently pefering a candidate that supports and want more government mandates and subsides for especially a product like enthanol which is a boon doggle means nothing to you.
Well it does ro me....
While I do not like use of corn to produce ethanol, I am siding with American farmers in the corn belt over OPEC, IRAN, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, UAE, etc. who produce the other fuel.
We must have access to alternate fuels because most of the people exporting oil to us hate us. I lived through oil embargo of 1970’s. American oil has a large component of fracking and shale, both much more expensive than pumping oil out of the vast oil fields in middle-east. Our high cost oil producers are already on the ropes due to oil glut. Many are in the process of going bankrupt. Then we are back to depending on OPEC oil.
Ernst and Rubio sound like a law firm or a wine. They both claim to come from poor parents. Is that even true?
LOL please...I do not like lawyers,
especially law firms with many names in their title.
Probably true that they both had poor parents.
Rubio’s parents fled Cuba, so my guess is they did not bring much money with them.
But that is not the best reason to choose a president.
Remember how she was going to âmakeâem squealâ?
Yes, I do. It didn’t take long for the GOPe to make HER squeal.
Another supposed TEA Party candidate, who was elected based on her promises to voters, who has turned against her constituents and given up her promises to them.
Rubio did the same, so I guess it’s normal for her to give her support to him.
Agree.
McCain stabbed Sarah with his campaign staffers.
Haley has stabbed her by abandoning her State’s heritage and that of the Southern Conservatives and TEA Party.
