With just five days until Fox News airs the final GOP debate before the Iowa Caucuses, Donald Trump is reigniting his war with Megyn Kelly. "Based on âª@MegynKelly's conflict of interest and bias she should not be allowed to be a moderator of the next debate," Trump tweeted while campaigning in Iowa on Saturday.
Trump's feud with Kelly has been one of the most memorable storylines of this raucous GOP primary. In recent weeks, it has heated up. In a lengthy Vanity Fair profile this month, Kelly boasted of writing the now famous debate question about Trump's history of misogynic comments, which ignited the feud this summer. And last week, Kelly sarcastically brought up Sarah Palin's Trump endorsement, as well as hosted National Review editor Rich Lowry to promote the National Review's anti-Trump issue.
Trump's campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, indicated that Trump could walk away from the debate if Fox won't exclude Kelly. "Let's see what happens," he told me. "It's fair to say Mr. Trump is a significant ratings driver for these debates. If we aren't on stage for some reason, they wouldn't have the record 24 million viewers and would be back with 1-2 million people."

No, I want a president who handles the media - especially hostile media. We haven't had one in a very long time.
Once we get into 7, 8, 9, 10, 11... debates they have a diminishing return in audience size, and for Trump they may not all be worth it. I’ve said once we get into February, Trump should think about cutting them off. In late January it is ok think about it too. If Trump does decide not to show, he will OWN the news cycle in last few days up to the the Iowa caucus. All they will do is talk about Trump.
I think it is a way he is bringing in people who have never cared about politics one way or the other. These “spats” are amusing to some and eye opening to others. To use a circus term, these spats are a “Center Ring” attraction to many Americans. Trump is showing his expertise in dealing with the enemy...he calls them out. After all the spineless, gutless, no neck politicians who talk a lot but deliver nothing but the same old, same old, Trump is a refresher course in what it takes to be a leader. I expect a much higher number of Americans voting than has become the norm. He is creating a spectacle and most people are loving it. There is plenty of time after the primaries to get down to brass tacks and get serious. Trump has to win One game at a time!
Poor Trust Fund Donnie. Was Megyn mean to him?
WAAAHHHH!
Hank
Trump is a genius and he must have a office full of genius. It’s win win for him.
Every move he makes attacks and defends at the same time.
The Zen of Donald — Pound sand!
I think Trump showsup and will negotiate for something down the road.
Why does this remind me of professional wrestling?
You just cannot keep enough popcorn on hand for this stuff.
I just love to see push back.
I don’t think he will be successful in getting rid of this hot witch, but it will be fun watching him.
“That said, Iâm good with the arm twisting. NR was already disinvited due to their anti-Trump issue (what a waste that was where they could have instead chosen to support candidates instead.)”
For what it’s worth, they certainly drew people to their site with that hit piece.
I had to go over there this morning to follow up on another thread I was commenting on and that piece had over 2800 comments.
I’ll bet it’s been awhile since they had an article that drew that much interest. Unfortunately for them, most of the comments I saw were telling them how much they suck.
Very true, there’s little to benefit Trump from the current debate template. He’s better off structuring his own format.
He s been kissing up to CNN a bit. I think CNN sees an opportunity in Trump to redeem themselves of sort from being liberal sycophants and erode some of Fox s audience.
I wonder if Huffington post still has him relegated to the entertainment section.
If Trump ends up being the Republican nominee, as everyone assumes now, do you think he’ll be able to dictate who gets to ask questions in the debates with Hillary? Do you not think the same questions Megyn asked will or would have been asked next Fall?
No I’m not a Trump fan but I want all difficult questions that can and will come out during he final election stage to be asked and answered now while we’re choosing our nominee so that there are no October surprises.
The ring of truth. Live it, learn it, love it.
In these late debates, all that happens is elevating guys like ~yeb! and the rest to be on the same stage as the front runner who is killing them in the polls.
“Fox shouldnât dump Megyn Kelly just because one campaign demands it, thatâs ridiculous!”
No, they should dump her because of the infantile “gotcha!” question that she kicked off the first debate with, and her continued, biased “reporting” on Trump ever since.
The Trump Townhall event would swamp the Fox hate-fest in ratings.
No it won’t!
He’s already proven over and over he doesn’t run.....
He stands his ground and fights!
It’s his decision, but I hope he sticks it to her.
“Do you want a president who controls the media? Thatâs one of the many things I hate about Obama.”
Obama doesn’t control the media, he’s an extension of them.
The media HATES Trump and he plays them like a cat playing with a mouse - and wins every time. It’s one of the most glorious things I’ve seen in my life.
Unless you think a moderator’s role is to inject herself into a debate, then Kelly demonstrated she is unable to moderate.
She should be replaced by someone who will ask unbiased questions and then step back and allow the focus to be where it belongs — on the candidates.
