Just over a week before the first votes are cast in the Iowa caucuses, Donald Trump has regained his lead over Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in the state of Iowa. Trump now holds a 5-point lead over the Texas Republican, with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio lagging far behind in third place.
In New Hampshire, the race remains unchanged at the top, with Trump holding a commanding double-digit lead over his two closest-but-still-distant rivals Cruz and Rubio, who are locked in a tight battle for second place. Further down, Ohio Gov. John Kasich has edged past New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie into fourth place.
Looking ahead to South Carolina, Trump continues to hold a double-digit lead over Cruz, his closest competitor in that state.

7.2% MOE - what is point?
will Trump have a town hall instead of bimbo megyn kelly?

It’s SO EARLY now. Let’s wait until the people start focusing in the election, then we’ll see Trump start to drop as people find you that he’s not a Reagan conservative. Just wait...
(LOL)
Reuters national 5-day rolling has Trump 40.6 and Cruz 10.5 (1/24/16).
Oops, that’s 1/22/16.
Question about the caucus process —
I had heard that in 2008, the Obama people in Iowa were extremely aggressive and immovable during caucus discussions. They did well in Iowa that year by basically being jerks. I don’t know enough about how a caucus works, so I don’t know if this story is true — I don’t know if the strategy would be successful.
But if that is a viable approach to a caucus, then 2016 will be interesting, because I think the Trump and the Cruz contingents are both willing to be jerks.
And I wonder is being an aggressive, unreasonable and immovable jerk will perhaps backfire in a 2016 caucus. A lot of folks are tired of that behavior.
Where are all of the Cruzers who were quipping “When’s the NATIONAL primary”???
What’s their comeback now??
Seriously, WHAT IS IMPORTANT is that Trump, Cruz, and Carson are at 55% in relatively blue New Hampshire and at 70% in South Carolina, meaning that even if Rubio were to get all of the kiddie votes, he still won’t get a majority in New Hampshire and won’t even come close to a majority in the South.
Hard to see much hope for the GOPe at this point.

Caucus is pretty much like voter turnout, although there is opportunity to persuade people before they cast a ballot. Jerks just sty with their candidate, immune to persuasion. Obama saw to it he had better turnout, and saw to it his supporters were unreasonably loyal.
Even RCP knows this is a joke. I'm not sure what the problem is with Reuters polling but it is all over the map and generally an outlier vis a vis the rest of the polls.
New Poll PING!!!
Would love to see Ted Cruz negotiate an endorsement from Ben Carson or Marco Rubio this week...
It would be huge!
Cruz blew it with the Glenn Beck endorsement and related clown show in Iowa yesterday. Very disappointing.
If Trump and Cruz could kiss and make-up and run on the same ticket, they could be unbeatable.
Trump is laying off Rubio right now so the both of them can take down Cruz. Marco Amnestio will get his medicine later.
