I am currently not considered a little girl; however, I have not yet become a woman. I am a female at the threshold of 30 years of age, and I see that the idea of equality is an oppressive one with no meaning. Equality, which Qasem Amin (considered by many to by the first Arab feminist) demanded, as well as the freedom he demanded for women which aimed for advancement, were the result of the regression of a society that was treating women at that time as things that didn't have rights. A girl didn't have the right to choose her husband; instead, her father married her off to whomever he chose, anytime he wanted, no going back. They also deflowered her in the eyeshot and earshot of her mother, her mother-in-law, and her sister-in-law, with neither respect for the privacy, the terror, and the difficulty of this occasion, nor any regard for her legal rights. A man had the right to marry her when he wanted and to divorce her when he wanted. She had no rights, she didn't inherit anything, she didn't have to right to attend a mosque or to work; due to this, Qasem Amin demanded the liberation of women and their guarantee to full rights given them by religion, conscience, and logic. He demanded that they be treated as human beings, not as things; this was in an era long past, and I agree with it.
However, the Middle Eastern man in our contemporary period has refined the exploitation of this freedom to his personal benefit. Unfortunately, the woman has helped him in this, and women's freedom has become an outward expression, hiding the other freedom: the freedom to get with women and to exploit them. Verily, the woman of this age is more exploited than those before her. They market fashion to her to make her half-naked so that men may enjoy the beauty of her body; they market her ambiguity to all that so they may enjoy her companionship; they come up with new names such as "friendship" (which in this context, I don't believe in its existence), "companionship", and all the other ones; they enjoy her "company" without recognizing that they cannot do without the company of a woman or that they are weaker on their own; despite this reality, they take to singing the newest songs to her that are inspired by the woman that can't do without a man in her life, though this inspiration is not physiologically or psychologically true. They even fabricate a new illusion and a new standard, totally unlike our standards and our morals, their only goal to refine the means of exploiting women.
I don't believe in equality. Allah never made us equal; Allah made women in our true religion as queens created to serve, who weren't responsible for spending for any reason, among those for the daughter, mother or wife. They were not responsible for protecting the house, for this was the role of the man; the man was assigned with what the woman was not, as Allah Almighty said in His dear Book (the Quran):
"...and due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable. But the men have a degree over them [in responsibility and authority]. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise (2:228)".
This "degree" is not the degree of homage to the man that the ignorant push on women, but rather a degree of designation and responsibility; in our current time, we support the many men who designate their wives as workers until they spend, despite the fact that spending is the duty of the man only, yet men in our time aren't earnest in addressing their most basic problem: neglecting their duties while retaining all of their rights, while they wax poetic about certain verses as if there are no other ones in the whole Quran.
I don't believe in equality. How is it possible for us to fall to such a degree of inferiority?! Are we not women, who Allah has blessed so that he made heaven under our feet, yet we make ourselves ask that we be equal to men? How did our instinct deteriorate to this extent, to the point that we decide to shed our rights in order to become trendy? How were we, the daughters of Adam, convinced that that we are like men, or that we have to do what they have to do, or that we have that which is for them?
The clear truth is that there is no actual basis for equality, which means the woman has become more conquered than those before her, and she is even more exploited now. Men have become the minority today, morals have become contrary to reality, and each of us has become docile to the appraisal and the morals of the man as the situation demands; he is for freedom as long as it is far away from his wife, his daughter, and his sister; a blend of doublethink is made to convince them of true friendship between man and woman, and his wife still does not realize it; he sees his relation with women as an innocent one, and sees the relation of any other man with any of his female family as non-innocent, as if he is the only innocent man on the face of the earth, all on the pretense of the frailty of his female family, their innocence, and their inability to create sound relationships. He and his female relatives enable this view to the bounds of naivety.
Verily, the man pushes this cheap doublethink on her in a big way, and unfortunately, the man bases this on flimsy Islamic jurisprudence that men enacted; unfortunately, across the ages (during a span of 1400 years), we have not seen one female religious scholar who interpreted, studied, or enacted any religious law or fatwa from a female point of view, though not one man on the face of the earth can understand us mysterious women; unfortunately, all religious scholars are men, enacting philosophies and laws that serve their ideas, their sentiments, and their principles, without looking at the other side. I am no scholar and I cannot issue fatwas, but I possess by what certainty bestows me that imperfection of judgement is in them, and not in the laws of my Lord.
I know that many will never wonder about what He truly said, and maybe some may think that He has no value. I am not involved in finding a solution, so I am certain that I don't have one, but I am quite certain that burying our heads in the sand will never better things.
I am not an analyst, an author, or a critic; I am merely a human being with nothing but her pen and her voice, and only with those two things I can fight. Maybe a thinker (male or female) will read my words, and see what I see, sense with me what society has come to; maybe a woman can read them and understand what has been devised against her; maybe it is of no value; maybe it could become a rock on which a new vision for life can be established.
We are not slaves, we prefer subjugation, beatings, mailings, rape, and other abuse.

The bible answers the equality question, which is badly put, “Yes and No.” A bolt isn’t like a nut but it is sort of similar to a nail. Judeo-Christian ideas of gender equality extend to such things as Proverbs 31. There are some things both genders may do, and they are respected and respectable. Islam apparently does some unnecessary stereotyping as to differences. Modern post-Christian culture also does some unnecessary stereotyping as to similarities. The sweet spot of truth is in the bible. Don’t let church traditions put you off there. They often tend to the difference stereotype.
Noteworthy that she is calling a male Muslim the “first Arab feminist.”
The problem is that at heart, Islam is not a God religion. It is (take your choice) a devil religion or a man religion. This is all she knows.
I don’t know too much about Mr. Amin. Apparently, he was an Egyptian jurist and founded Cairo University.
Here’s a quote from his blurb on Wikipedia:
“if Egyptians did not modernize along European lines and if they were unable to compete successfully in the struggle for survival they would be eliminated,”
Hard to argue with someone who thinks that being equal makes them inferior.
So he is kind of riding on a Christian tradition (what of it is left in Europe) and in turn she is riding on where he is.
That gets her further than Islam alone would, but it is also a vulnerable spot. One mad imam away from disaster.

Amok reminded me of our First Law about freedom of beliefs, and said that these beliefs are all part of The Alienork Way, and so they must be respected. I pondered this, and looked at the crouching women under their black blankets. I asked of Amok, said I, Elder, what of the freedom of belief of these women? Do they too agree with The Alienork Way? Amok crossed the small room, spoke sharply in the Alienork tongue, and nudged one of the women with his foot. All of the women in unison began to sing a strange high-pitched La-la-la-la-la song, until Amok nudged the nearest again, and they all stopped as one. You see, said Amok, this is how our women express that they are very happy. They prefer to live under their black blankets, inside of our huts, where they can feel safe from any harm.
