Washington (CNN)--The Des Moines Register on Saturday endorsed Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Democrat Hillary Clinton for their parties' presidential nominations, nine days before Iowa caucus-goers head to the polls in the first-in-the-nation voting state.
"At his best, Rubio offers an uplifting message of a 'new American century.' He shares his compelling story and calls for a referendum on the nation's identity," the paper said in backing Rubio.
"Clinton has demonstrated that she is a thoughtful, hardworking public servant who has earned the respect of leaders at home and abroad. She stands ready to take on the most demanding job in the world," the paper said in its endorsement of the former secretary of state....

They have declared themselves IRRELEVANT.
well, considering trump nuked them, and the MSM thinks ted cruz is satan . . . they were pretty much out of options.
LOL!
But I do have a theory that the GOPe will boost Rubio past Cruz to 2nd as a “surprise” to keep them in the race.
That ought to siphon off some Cruz support.
So much for the supposed unbiased media who always claim to be fair and balanced, not taking any sides just fair and honest reporting.
Would you rather they endorse Bernie? The choices are limited.
I’m surprised they didn’t ask Obama to stay another 4 years. ;-)

Or not.
Hitlary versus Rubio, er Jeb.

Man, cruz has really fallen, not even the Des Moines Register is supporting him anymore.
If he declared martial law and suspended the elections they’d be fine with that.
Well, they got one thing right: they put Rubio and Clinton together.
The Des Moines Register never supported Ted Cruz, as you know.
Well they didn’t write another Des Moines Register Op-Ed telling Trump to get out of the presidential race.
Are you unaware that, in addition to news pages, newspapers also offer opinion on their editorial pages? (And comics, and puzzles, and obits, and sports, all on their assigned pages.)
That’s what this is: the considered opinion of the newspaper’s editors. It is the longstanding practice for the editorial board of major newspapers to endorse a candidate.
Take it or leave it, but don’t act like editorial boards should not take sides. It’s entirely appropriate for them to state an opinion. It just needs to be kept on the editorial page, not in news stories, which should be just-the-facts-m’am.
This is noteworthy only because the Iowa primary is soon.
Did they ever support him?
I will vote for Rubio now in my states primary. I was just waiting on the Des Moines Register to tell me how to vote. Rubio 2016!
