On January 22 Washington state lawmakers held a hearing on a proposal to requirement gun owners in the state to lock up their guns in the home.

This comes just under two weeks after state representative Jim Moeller (D-49th) introduced legislation to ban the possession of the "assault weapons" in the state.

According to The News Tribune, Rep. Ruth Kagi (D-Lake Forest Park) spoke for requiring law-abiding citizens to lock up their guns in their homes. Kagi said, "Requiring gun owners to safely store firearms is common sense." She added, "About 1 million households in Washington state contain unsafe firearms, and the children in those homes are at risk."

This also reminds me of the idiot WA lawmaker a few years back who wanted to ban dog poop in private yards. The law she was trying to push ( unsuccessfully) was that dog owners had to pick up poop in their yards, or get a ticket. She felt dog poop hurt the waterways. Who was going to enforce this law? Someone trespassing in my yard?

Somebody please tell this idiot that criminals do not buy their guns legally. SCOTUS ruled that filling out a Form 4473 is self-imcrimination for past felons and so it violates the Constitution's Fifth Amendment. As for kids getting guns — a 15-something gangbanger isn't a kid because he's a thug. Accidents with real kids and firearms DECREASES every year and has done so for a decade or more.

[[So, will the local LEO’s be going door to door to ensure that these evil “unsafe” weapons are safely secured by “law abiding citizens” and locked away?]]

No- they will just do what they do in other states that demand people lock their guns up- IF a child gets ahold of a gun, and there is an accident- the parents WILL be charged with felony, or if someone steals a gun out of a home, uses it in crime, and the gun is found and traced back to owner- the owner WILL be charged with a crime Etc Etc Etc

[[New Jersey and New York have strict sport utility Rifle laws.
They are largely ignored.]]

Until soemthign happens where the law is involved and the law finds them unlocked- then all hell breaks loose-

They know that, My FRiend. It is not the criminal they want to disarm. It is you and me. Should you need incentive not to allow them to do this, look back to the Turkish/ Armenian event, National Socialists Germany, Stalin's Union of Soviet Socialists Republics, Mao's China. Once we are disarmed and helpless to resist, what happened there will happen here.

Firearm "safe storage" laws are nothing more than legal trickery to implement surprise home searches without a warrant, reasonable cause or probable cause on anonymous unrecorded accusation, and to prosecute any citizen that uses a firearm for self defense in his home.

California already has safe storage laws and cops in CA are never prosecuted when their kids get a hold of their guns in their homes and kill someone or themselves.

Some (government employee) animals are more equal than (serf) animals.

Lets say someone steals a gun from your home. First off, the homeowner would be the first person at the scene. The homeowner can alter evidence prior to calling the police. You can buy one of those small gun cases , and don’t store the gun in it. If your gun gets stolen, you drive out to the woods to discard the case before calling the police to report the burglary.. You then tell the cops the gun and the case in which it was stored in was stolen. Presto, no liability because the cops cannot show proof how it was stored prior to the theft.

Yes, you are positively correct. Bill Ayers, Barack Obama’s mentor in Chicago and convicted terrorist, bragged to cronies in the 1960s that when the revolution was accomplished, the winners would only have to kill 25 million Americans.

Leftists are known for their murders they commit. It's ll done in the name of progress to their new Utopian society.

It is common sense if you ignore causation - correlation for why you own a gun for protection in the first place.

It’s only common sense if hunting is the ONLY purpose for your firearms AND children or the mentally unstable have regular occupation in your house.

Typical unenforceable law unless you violate search and seizure law. It’s a law meant to “kick you while your down” being already charged with other things. If they can’t get you on the original charges, they gotcha with this.
