I am not making this up or exaggerating what Donald Trump said. These are his words and you can see the video for yourself. Via the Blaze, Trump literally says that when he gets to Washington he’s going to become an establishment politician so that he can get some really great, super huge, classy deals done.

The Donald won’t be talking to the lobbies.

He will be talking to the people now beholden to the lobbies, and part of the deal shall be to wean these people OFF their dependence on the lobbyists, and have them get in some kind of 12-step program, much like Alcoholics Anonymous. THEN The Donald will present them with his deal, and work from there.

The Donald is altogether contemptuous of any and all lobbies, and has made his distaste known to anybody who bothers to look. But he will use them, and make them his beotch.

And they will end up liking it. Can you imagine the synergy then?

Making deals isn’t a bad thing. It depends on what kind of deals. The insiders make deals among themselves at the expense of ordinary people. In such manner, the country gets turned into so many special interest groups carving up the turkey of Joe and Jane ordinary person.

For example, more tax deductions and higher income tax rates for those who don’t have tax deductions.

For another example, opposing free trade (which hurts our ag exports) and promising more subsidies to farmers.

On the other hand, here is a good deal: phasing-in free trade with Central American countries so sugar beet growers in this country aren’t immediately wiped out by sugar cane imports.

Deals that expand economic freedom that are designed so they don’t hurt any group of us badly, such as phase-ins, those are good deals.

If Donald Trump is the next President, it will be very important who controls the Congress. We will need freedom-expanding deals, not crony capitalism-expanding deals.

On any given day, we see these statements made regarding Trump. They seem mutually exclusive.

If you think Trump is going to reduce the size of government and reduce spending, you’re blissfully unaware.

I’m disappointed that so many FReepers get taken by a populist. I thought folks here were smarter than that.

I am not directing that at you, I’m just commenting in general out of frustration.

As an Albertan, I need a place I may have to move to. Not near as many people value freedom and their rights like my southern neighbours. I see people making a big mistake and it’s highly concerning.

Let’s put our faith and hope in God, and pray freedom gets restored.

I’ve been thinking about that budget too. He’ll send one with CUTS (not slowed growth). Then figure out which one the Dem’s simply can’t abide and there’s your fulcrum for a long term budget deal. Not like our GOP leaders that are so afraid of the press they can’t get a single thing - ever - unless the lobbyist for the matter is paying the Dems too. They will make deals and not just have Mexican standoffs because they’re afraid of the press. Trump has proven to be immune to the press - he’ll take the heat for everyone.

... More, Trump has publicly defended the confiscation of private property for eminent domain, even when the use for which the property is confiscated is purely private in nature:

Trump consistently defended the use of eminent domain.
Interviewed by John Stossel on ABC News, he said:
"Cities have the right to condemn for the good of the city.
Everybody coming into Atlantic City sees this terrible house instead of staring at beautiful fountains and beautiful other things that would be good."
Challenged by Stossel, he said
that eminent domain was necessary to build schools and roads.
But of course he just wanted to build a limousine parking lot.

Once again, this is Donald Trump's vision of private property rights when he was just another private citizen.
Imagine how much more damage he could do as the leader of the Federal executive branch.

But is a deal-maker what this country needs at this crucial time?
Is not one of the biggest criticisms of today's Congressional Republicans
that they have made all too many deals with Democrats,
betraying the principles on which they ran for office?

Bipartisan deals -- so beloved by media pundits -- have produced some of the great disasters in American history.

Contrary to the widespread view
that the Great Depression of the 1930s was caused by the stock market crash of 1929,
unemployment never reached double digits in any of the 12 months that followed the stock market crash in October, 1929.

Unemployment was 6.3 percent in June 1930 when a Democratic Congress and a Republican president made a bipartisan deal that produced the Smoot-Hawley tariffs.
Within 6 months, unemployment hit double digits --
and stayed in double digits throughout the entire decade of the 1930s.

You want deals?
There was never a more politically successful deall than that which Neville Chamberlain made in Munich in 1938.
He was hailed as a hero, not only by his own party but even by opposition parties, when he returned with a deal that Chamberlain said meant "peace for our time."
But, just one year later, the biggest, bloodiest and most ghastly war in history began.

If deal-making is your standard,
didn't Barack Obama just make a deal with Iran --
one that may have bigger and worse consequences than Chamberlain's deal?

What kind of deals would Donald Trump make?
He has already praised the Supreme Court's decision in "Kelo v. City of New London" which said
that the government can seize private property to turn it over to another private party.

That kind of decision is good for an operator like Donald Trump.
Doubtless other decisions that he would make as president would also be good for Donald Trump,
even if for nobody else.
