Two big rallys today in Iowa that I thought we'd keep on one thread.
These two places are similar. They are both very small and of Dutch Heritage. Dutch is spoken here. The religion is mainly Protestant.
Hmmm. Now which candidate brags about being Protestant?
In short, Trump is in friendly territory.
The first is in Sioux Center, IA @ 11:00 am (CST)@ Dordt College - BJ Haan Auditorium
The second will be Pella, IA @ 2:30 pm (CST) @ Central College - Douwstra Auditorium
If Donald Trump is elected our next president, this day in these two little Iowan towns will be remembered for a long long time.
Here’s a website for FReepers to order their Dutch wooden shoes for the Tulip Festival.

I gather theres no snow in those towns ???
:)
Thanks for the ping and the great location information/pics :)
Go Trump!!
Nice....one year.....hurry, hurry!
I saw pink and green down your way. was the icing bad?
My super accurate snow gage shows a trifle more than 7” here this morning after losing about 1” to melting yesterday. so our total for three days is ~ 8” or so
We have been pretty much snowed in for three days
My Dutch went to Beverwick (Albany) New York early 1600s
I could join the Dutch Settlers of Albany if I wanted to ..
You just have to be able to prove your family lived there before 1664 when the England took over the New Netherlands colony...
In school in NY, my favorite year for history was 7th Grade (IIRC) when we studied NY history. Especially loved all the information about the Dutch settlers. The architecture is the best.
I guess almost every state has impressive history. Now that we’re in TN, I’m learning about their settlers. A lot to be proud of.
“In 2000, 66.6% of Sioux Center residents identified as being of Dutch heritage. This was the largest percentage of Dutch Americans of any place in the country. “
We W. Michigan Dutch have more money, so bleh!
thanks for the thread
Yes:
Michigan
Pennsylvania
New Jersey
50/50+:
Illinois (55%)
New York (65%)
Oregon (51%)
Maybe:
Massachusetts
Long shot:
Washington
California (likely better chance than not)
Oh sure, people will come out when it’s 21 degrees and deal with the crowds and parking, but they won’t actually vote! /s
NY won’t be voting for Cruz!
“Now that weâre in TN, Iâm learning about their settlers. A lot to be proud of.”
Same here - moved to the tri-cities area. I’ve never lived anywhere with such a rich heritage.
They will need the icy cold weather to off set the heat coming from the crowd after TREUMP sets their emotions on fire.
Go TRUMP!
Thanks for the ping
Morning folks. Just finished a breakfast of French toast Bacon , banana and coffee.
Another cold day. Will need to bring a load or two of wood in to keep warm today!
Ping!
Good morning and thanks for the ping!
French toast and bacon sounds great! I just had a cup of yogurt :(
Stay warm!!
Anyone being affected by this snow storm?
0.25 inch in Newnan, GA. Eveything is closed!
