Clinton Emails So Sensitive, Senior Lawmakers Had to Up Their Security Clearances to View Them

Some of newly revealed emails on Hillary Clinton's private, unsecured server are so sensitive that senior lawmakers on the oversight committees did not have high enough security clearances to read them, according to sources on Capitol Hill. Fox News reports today that lawmakers had to fulfill additional security requirements in order to read material in her emails described by Mrs. Clinton as "innocuous."

The emails in question, as Fox News first reported earlier this week, contained intelligence classified at a level beyond "top secret." Because of this designation, not all the lawmakers on key committees reviewing the case have high enough clearances.

A source with knowledge of the intelligence review told Fox News that senior members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, despite having high-level clearances, are among those not authorized to read the intelligence from so-called "special access programs" without taking additional security steps -- like signing new non-disclosure agreements.

These programs are highly restricted to protect intelligence community sources and methods.

Intelligence Community Inspector General I. Charles McCullough III identified "several dozen" additional classified emails this month -- including classified intelligence from "special access programs" (SAP).

In an interview with NPR yesterday, Mrs. Clinton insisted that the latest IG finding doesn't change anything and suggested that the Obama-appointed official was working with the Republicans. "This seems to me to be, you know, another effort to inject this into the campaign, it's another leak," she said. "I'm just going to leave it up to the professionals at the Justice Department because nothing that this says changes the fact that I never sent or received material marked classified."

Clinton's defenders say the emails contain relatively "innocuous" conversations by State Department officials about the CIA drone program.

The description of the emails as relatively innocuous came from officials, including a senior U.S. intelligence official, who believe Inspector General McCullough has been unfair to Clinton in his handling of the issue. They say McCullough and Congressional Republicans have elevated a mundane dispute about classification into a scandal.

However, a former Justice Department official told Fox News that "State Department IT employees and others" warned Clinton that she should be using a government account and yet she ignored them.

"If you have a situation where someone was knowingly violating the law and that they knew that what they were doing was prohibited by federal law because other people were saying, you're violating the law, knock it off, and they disregarded that advice and they went ahead, that's a very difficult case to defend," Thomas Dupree said.

And those weren’t even the important ones that she and her AIDS, Huma and Cheryl Mills, destroyed...the ones that implicated her in criminal behavior.

"I'm just going to leave it up to the professionals at the Justice Department because nothing that this says changes the fact that I never sent or received material marked classified."

She evidently knows that the currant DOJ will not press charges no matter what evidence is produced by the FBI.

The weasel phrase "never sent or received material marked classified" can be manipulated in so many ways by a lawyer. Such as e-mails have no materially physical substance. Or they were marked "Ultra Double Plus Top Secret" and so on.

Just imagine if the evening news covered this, what the public reaction would be. More evidence of the Clintons still being slick.

And the Democrats seem mostly happy with their choices - either someone who is incredibly ethically challenged and incompetent or some old guy who thinks the ideal society - the latest, most modern and exciting thing - is the Soviet Union under Brezhnev.

So now we have more politicians with more sensitive information. Just great.

As long as we’re not to the outcome yet, though, it could.

And even if she’s not charged, just enough attention brought to this could mean the difference between the general public knowing about it as common knowledge, and that ruining her career as a politician and putting similar others in some fear, or it being covered up in the media and she and others even going on to do worse.

In the Lord’s time, He will bring about the conclusion to the war He’s already won.

For us, we’re to fight battles, it seems, and just to work for the best outcome as possible.

Probable or possible outcomes shouldn’t matter, but only if a cause is worth fighting for.

Recall Clinton said these were “private personal emails, emails about planning Chelsea’s wedding or my mother’s funeral arrangements, condolence notes to friends as well as yoga routines, family vacations, the other things you typically find in inboxes.”

Of course Clinton had email like this. She was the Secretary of State. The idea that she didn’t have anything classified (or higher) in her email was preposterous.

Did she send out information about the SEALS that were shot down in the helicopter?

It’s going to take a while.

Hillary had lots of helpers.

You want to catch the whole school of criminals in the net, not just the old flounder.

I don’t know.

Was that info sent to or from her bathroom server?

There are theories that the enemy was told about the helicopter intentionally.

At the very least, all these people that SENT SAP emails should be made to testify that they did, in fact, send them to the insecure server to acknowledge they must have existed on that server. Under oath. What was sent should also be in archives.

Hillary can’t call everyone a liar - there’s hard evidence to the contrary. My take is that the FBI know all this but is being pressured by the WH. The WH will use this leverage to make sure Hillary continues to do their bidding even once they’re gone. She knows she’s done in a heartbeat if she doesn’t pander to Obama.

Any e-mail that Hillary sent would not be "marked classified" regardless of what sensitive information that the e-mail contained unless she marked it classified.

Any e-mail that Hillary received would not be "marked classified" regardless of what sensitive information that the e-mail contained unless the person that sent it to her marked it classified.

I am sure that David Petraeus did not mark his diaries as classified before he gave them to his biographer/girl friend. Of course, Petraeus is under an entirely different standard than Hillary, because ...

There are well over 150 FBI agents and analysts working this case. She is toast. Some things are simply not allowed and Ms. Clinton has broken some very serious laws. She should have already been arrested and brought in for questioning.

Ken, what you have described is exactly why this entire charde will implode upon Hillary! From the moment I read that Hillary was using a “Home Brew” un-secure system I knew this would eventually lead to just this type of scenario. Migrating any classified material onto a un-secure system is illegal. The trap, in all of this, is those who willingly, and with full knowledge of the law, played along with Hillary’s illegal, foolish and brazen plan to circumvent the Freedom Of Information Act. Her hubris has ensnared all of her staff and career civil servants working for the State Department. You can bet that whomever was the security manager of that office is thinking about jumping off a high building. There is no way this was going on without the assistance of her direct staff and knowledge of career civil servants who are trained to safeguard our secrets. All will eventually be indicted and convicted! Let the singing begin!
