Donald Trump is once again confounding pollsters, politicos, the media, Democrats, Republicans, and his GOP rivals as a just-released Florida Atlantic University poll has him garnering (by far) the greatest support among Hispanic Republican voters in Florida.
Jeb Bush in particular thought he would entice the Hispanic population with his repeated overtures to his own version of their concerns. He rebuked Trump for speaking so strongly against illegal immigration, with Mr. Bush claiming illegals crossing the U.S. border did so, "...as an act of love."
Marco Rubio has to be stunned at the Florida polling results as well. Both he and Bush are from Florida and were expecting to utilize their appeal to voters there to aid them in securing the GOP nomination. Among Hispanic Republicans Trump's lead is even greater at 54% - more than DOUBLE the combined support among Hispanics for Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio:
Donald Trump - 54 percent Marco Rubio - 15.1 percent Rand Paul - 14 percent Ted Cruz - 10.2 percent Jeb Bush - 5.5 percent
Cruz will never draw from minority voters. That is what it will take to beat Hillary.
HOORAY voters
HOORAY Trump
Actually, Trump has more Hispanic support than ALL other candidates combined.
In other news, the poll also found Trump has the most support of the Canadians who winter in Florida...the Cruz campaign was not immediately available for comment./s (sorry, couldn’t resist a little levity).

Not particularly surprising when you understand that people who honestly worked to gain legal status and citizenship don’t care for those who filch it on the cheap . . .
But National Review and the GOPe want those voters . . . er, wait. Didn’t they want those voters in the “big tent?” But not if hispanics and blacks are Trump voters? I’m hoopelessly confused now.
Conventional wisdom is crashing down on the Bush/Rove/Rubio machine. Their vision loses. Bold solutions win.
Yup! People oughtta listen to Florida. Thanks AuntB.
“Today’s big puzzle is how so many otherwise rational people have become enamored of Donald Trump, projecting onto him virtues and principles that he clearly does not have, and ignoring gross defects that are all too blatant.”
—Thomas Sowell
I am not confounded. People hear what they want to hear. Trump has sold you a bill of goods, that is his specialty, and is very practiced at using Alinsky tactics of the left because he is a lefty pretending to be a republican. He supports funding of planned parenthood, wasting lots of money deporting by round up illegals only to fast track them back in. He supports bailouts of large corporations including banks. He supports the government creating winners and losers. Forgotten he said he he will make companies build in America? I haven’t. Thankfully I know he can’t although those blinded by him belief it. He really did tell the NYT he wants a 45% tariff on China. Bothered to think or read about how much that would drive up our prices on EVERYTHING? He loves eminent domain because he has used to rip off everyday citizens to build large buildings with large buildings on it.
He lies saying Cruz copied him on the wall. Huge lie Cruz has always been for the wall. BC? Another huge lie perpetuated by Trump who admitted he brought it up to take down Cruz during the debate and brought it up as documented in January 2015.
Cruz took out secured loans from Citibank and Goldman-Sachs, put it on one form and not another and that is huge but DT’s loans from the same banks aren’t.
DT is a very good politician.
He has no guiding principles, morals or temperament to make a good president. Yours is a blind trust with no reasoning or logic.
The SAME National Review that trashed Ronald Reagan during his run way back. The SAME National Review who called Donald Trump a fake Conservative because they were sure he would run third party and wouldn't sign a pledge.
Well, Donald DID sign the pledge to vote for WHOMEVER the Republican Nominee is, and now the National Review folks turn on the Republican Frontrunner!
GO DONALD!!
Trump’s brand of strong-man nationalist populism has a long tradition in Latin America. Makes sense.
True.. but, but, but what about the Conservative Elites of National Review? How do those 20 writers 'feel'?
Great points, seekthetruth. Thanks. BUMP-TO-THE-TRUTH
Yes, Senator Ted Cruz does change his statements depending on whom he is talking to.
And it was so nice that he took time to join Glenn Beck at the border to pass out teddy bears to the Illegals as they crossed the border. Now Ted will be a guest at Glenn Beck’s event tomorrow in Iowa. According to Beck his second choice for President is Rand Paul, another open border lover.
Funny deal,
Rubio was billing himself as the latin savior
And Jeb wrote he was of mexican heritage.
Rah Rah Trump, Kick em in the knee

Bingo. My grandfather had to work in an experimental mine (read dangerous) to emigrate from Italy to the US in 1921.
Those were dangerous jobs but the desire to become American was great. We were not even allowed to speak Italian. Had to be AN AMERICAN!

All, Please read the link at post 4.
Thanks for the link AuntB.
This is proof of Ted’s real beliefs about illegal immigration and amnesty.
Note the section on increasing H1B visas and trade with Mexico.
Sounds to me like he is on full support of the globalist agenda.
