Krauthammer: If Just One More Establishment Figure Endorses Trump It Could Make Him Inevitable...
RCP ^ | Krauthammer

Posted on 01/22/2016 8:03:21 AM PST by RoosterRedux

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: I think we're getting to a moment where there's a scenario that one can see. Which is, you get Bob Dole, who represents the old establishment, if you like, essentially choosing Trump over Cruz. Now, if Cruz loses Iowa, Trump wins convincingly, I think all he will need at that point is to have a single current establishment figure. Meaning a sitting governor or a sitting Senator endorse him.

Nobody has, everybody stayed away from him. But if there are people who think he's the winning ticket, he's going to win the nomination, I want to be on the right side of this. And you get one standing out there endorsing him. Sarah Palin doesn't -- meet that bill. Bob Dole does, but you know, he's yesterday's man.

If you get somebody today from the so-called establishment who endorses him, I think it becomes a flood. At that point the dam breaks and you will get a rush of other establishment figures who will rally around him. And that could be the point at which he becomes inevitable as the nominee.

BRET BAIER, "SPECIAL REPORT" ANCHOR: Why is it that no Senator has stepped up to endorse Ted Cruz? Not even his ally, Jeff Sessions as of yet on immigration?

The media thought they could manage Trump too.

Who DO you think would be a good VP for Trump?

Well, I am not busy at the moment and it is the only job I would be interested in having, sit back, do nothing and get paid well.

Or are they embracing him to destroy him, to take away that which has gotten him to this point, running as an anti-establishment candidate
___________________________________________________________

You read my mind!

After the comments “conservatives” made against Trump in the National Review, I realized that some, if not all of the establishment understands why people are gravitating to Trump.

This is damage control.

Trump/Cruz - Cruz/Trump both men for the times.

Ted will make an excellent Vice President.
Cruz will never be President or VP even if his citizenship status is resolved by a court in his favor.

The Democrats will never let that go like the stupid Republicans have with Obama...Not only that but he's screwed himself with his fellow lawmakers out of any support

Cruz is toast.

As I posted last night on another thread, the Establishment has lost control already. Trump is inevitable already. So to save face and not show how they’ve lost control (to Trump), they must act like they’re allowing him to win. Like he meets their approval. They’re so pathetic.

Trump was a shoo-in from the moment he walked in the door. If Krauthammer was unable to see that, the man needs to file his license in #13. He needs no further endorsement to win. He needs US and our votes. TRUMP is a vessel and TRUMP is US - not liberal, not conservative but, AMERICAN. Prick our skin, we bleed red, white and blue. We are PROUD, We want to be STRONG, and We want to win OUR COUNTRY BACK. o-the bow boy may want to take our guns, but WE STILL HAVE OUR VOTE. TRUMP needs US. Will you turn your back on one who wishes to save the country all of us love as much as life itself? I want our AMERICA BACK. He is willing to take on the job to get US there.

I like Cruz but that kind of talk from some of his rabid supporters scares me. It sounds....cultish.

Cruz is not a messiah & he’s not perfect. He’s only a man, a very flawed man. I support him but he’s not “anointed” or “God’s chosen”. That sounds like something his disturbed Father would say.

I will vote for Cruz but will vote Trump if he is the nominee. NO Yeb or Rubio, under any circumstances.

When a man stands for something noble, he makes fast enemies of the ignoble.

Therein lies the problem.

A SMART man finds a way to accomplish his goals WITHOUT alienating. It called LEADERSHIP.

For some reason Cruz is devoid of this as we've seen during his 3 years in the Senate.

The DEMS, along with the GOPe, has compromised and neutered him nearly every time he has tried to prevail.

That's NOT good. That shows lack of LEADERSHIP skills.

Wow. That's one convoluted pile of BS there. Let's sort this out... You admit that the GOPe and Dems are working together against Cruz and conservative causes... and blame Cruz for it for a "lack of leadership", despite remaining true to the causes through thick and thin... but you baselessly believe that Trump will be magically followed by a majority of Congress... and that Trump never alienates his opponents.

Stunning amount of faith in someone with virtually no actual experience in building a consensus among peers. Trump runs over those who oppose him. He does not build a consensus... and he has alienated more opponents than Cruz has.

(I won’t even bother to remind you that Cruz, the man you’re hinting is not “smart”, was summa cum laude at both Princeton and Harvard Law. Or maybe I just did.)

Perhaps you didn’t recognize the man in the photo, or you are simply ignorant of Churchill’s history.

He has been DUMB as a rock in getting people to joint his effort in the Senate.

Like I said... LEADERSHIP is about people uniting behind someone's ideas.

He has been comprised again and again by his Senate compadres on both sides o f the aisle.

How smart is it to create a "me against the world" reality?

I'd guess I've been around a LOT longer than you in years and Churchill, Chamberlain, Gen Douglas MacArthur, Harry Truman, etc, etc I've witnessed.

What exactly is the point you're trying to make?
