Krauthammer: If Just One More Establishment Figure Endorses Trump It Could Make Him Inevitable...
RCP ^ | Krauthammer

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: I think we're getting to a moment where there's a scenario that one can see. Which is, you get Bob Dole, who represents the old establishment, if you like, essentially choosing Trump over Cruz. Now, if Cruz loses Iowa, Trump wins convincingly, I think all he will need at that point is to have a single current establishment figure. Meaning a sitting governor or a sitting Senator endorse him.

Nobody has, everybody stayed away from him. But if there are people who think he's the winning ticket, he's going to win the nomination, I want to be on the right side of this. And you get one standing out there endorsing him. Sarah Palin doesn't -- meet that bill. Bob Dole does, but you know, he's yesterday's man.

If you get somebody today from the so-called establishment who endorses him, I think it becomes a flood. At that point the dam breaks and you will get a rush of other establishment figures who will rally around him. And that could be the point at which he becomes inevitable as the nominee.

BRET BAIER, "SPECIAL REPORT" ANCHOR: Why is it that no Senator has stepped up to endorse Ted Cruz? Not even his ally, Jeff Sessions as of yet on immigration?

He probably won’t have long to wait. Too bad that won’t put an end to the butthurt, though.

In all honesty, I think that Dole’s kind words about Trump have to be attributed to creeping dementia, didn’t Dole come out and ‘strongly endorse’ Jeb Bush? Now he’s saying that Ted Cruz would be a ‘disaster’, I don’t think his words reflect his mental state.

Elizabeth Dole needs to get him away from cameras and microphones and let the guy live out whatever time he has left in relative obscurity and (hopefully) peace.

I don’t get it. Does this mean that the Trump “revolution” is now the GOP establishment choice?

Demented Beck endorsed Cruz.

Does that make Cruz insane as well?

All these so-called “conservatives” against Trump...
Here’s my opinion (which is worth about as much as anyone else’s...)

We have voted for “conservatives” Republicans and gained control of the Congress and where has that got us??? Nothing that we were told would happen...Happened....

Now, we are told (by these same people) that Trump would be bad and that (other than Cruz) we should vote for any of the candidates because they are “conservatives”...

I say we vote for the candidate (I don’t care what you call him) that will best bring back America to the real, everyday citizens that work and strive to make this country as great as it once was....
So far, I’ve only seen this out of one...maybe two...

Trump or Cruz.......Either one suits me...

And none of his supporters question why.

Conservatives staying home gave us Obama.
“Conservatives” voting may give us the guy the GOPe thinks they can manage and probably will.

Or are they embracing him to destroy him, to take away that which has gotten him to this point, running as an anti-establishment candidate.

The GOP not nominating Conservatives gave us Obama.

It simply means people like to be associated with winners. Trump is winning and will win. And Ted Cruz, for some reason, is incredibly disliked by many of his peers in the beltway. Being disliked isn’t being an outsider. People PERSONALLY dislike Cruz. Its an ongoing and underlying theme in this race.

Come on, you know that won’t happen. Ted needs to go back to the Senate and see if he can actually get something done for his constituents back in Texas before they mount a primary challenge against him. Ambition and speech-making are no substitute for accomplishment; just look at Obama.

“Trump or Cruz.......Either one suits me...”

I’d love to see a Trump/Cruz ticket. It would give Cruz time to learn how to play hardball.
