Stop it, Sen. Cruz. Just stop.

We get it. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) is rattled. He’s afraid of losing Iowa. He doesn’t know how to deal with Donald Trump. But he sure isn’t helping matters with embarrassing arguments. His latest: “Right now, the Washington establishment is abandoning [Sen.] Marco Rubio. They made the assessment that Marco can’t win this race, and the Washington establishment is rushing over to support Donald Trump.” Thunk. Let’s consider the ways in which this is unhelpful.

First, after spending months genuflecting to Trump as a kindred spirit, how can Trump be a closet establishment figure? Maybe Cruz isn’t a good judge of character. Maybe he was duped. In any event, it reminds us how cringe-worthy Cruz’s flattery of Trump was.

Second, no one cares. Voters are supposed to like Cruz more now because people he does not like (“the establishment”) shift from one opponent to another? It defies logic.

Third, if the establishment is abandoning Rubio, maybe anti-establishment voters should like him more. Or something.

Fourth, it sounds desperate, in part because, no one thinks Trump is a Beltway insider. If anything, it makes Trump look powerful insofar as insiders have to come to him.

Well, since he and Ted believe that THIS garbage is getting the base on his side, then they REALLY shouldn't be surprised that TED is losing much of the base, because they both live in a dream world.

Cruz has LOUSY judgement of others; first Roberts and now this guy; not to mention Mercer, Beck, and his biggest donors !

Geez, I was going to try making a cogent argument against the article, until you said it was by Rubin. Automatic disqualifier.

There’s already been another article showing the establishment decided no one else but Trump and Cruz have a chance, and they’re picking Trump. Many are on record as doing so and saying so, like Giuliani and King. The insiders say they believe Trump will flip-flop on his more conservative stances and that they can negotiate with him and get much more than they ever could with Cruz, who is a true believer.

Cruz has outperformed Trump against Hellary in every general election poll for months. In fact, in a two-man-race in the primary, a recent poll says he’d beat Trump. So even the majority of GOP voters don’t prefer Trump.

Doesn’t matter what those polls say......I know for a FACT that Hillary would destroy Ted, if she’s the nominee, which she probably won’t be.
