Real-estate mogul Donald Trump got some great news Thursday afternoon in the form of a new CNN/ORC poll showing him pulling ahead in Iowa.
That survey showed him leading his top rival, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), 37% to 26%, among likely Iowa caucus-goers.
But the CNN poll was apparently too recent for Trump to tout at a Thursday rally in Las Vegas, Nevada. Instead, Trump boasted about his results in another recent Iowa poll, from Emerson College, that found him beating Cruz 33% to 23%.

Dole is senile. He was on Greta a while ago and called Cruz a RINO!
She’s a “patriot” with an IQ of 85, a wife-beating son, and a daughter who spewed out a bastard kid a few years back.
You can have her.

Hey, good for Santorum!
How did that Santorum Administration work out for us again? Please refresh our memories on that.
Also, does anybody remember how many Iowa delegates Santorum brought to the 2012 RNC convention?
I love Onion articles.....they're a hoot!!!!!!!!!
x3 here, and I agree.
Make that two, with two different baby-daddies
Sorry for the double post. I’m not sure how that happened.
I know. But I seriously don’t think Cruz has the juice to get it over the top. But he gave it a good try in the primary. My point is that if you can’t do it in the primary, then you probably can’t do it in the general.
I think he made a mistake waiting so long to attack. JMHO, but he let the Trump get too far ahead.
That was true but I remember there was infighting about the party platform and how the race was run. He felt entitled as you implied but got some push back which may have stuck in his craw because he had also been compelled to resign his position to run for President.
But if Cruz and Trump were to duke it out on the issues I'm convinced Cruz would prevail. Conservatism sells.
But unfortunately these campaigns turn on BS now. Its frustrating beyond words.
Cruz has been an up and coming politico in Washington for twenty years.
Yup, It’s a tad early to be crowing.
That’s why we’re lost as a country. “We are the hollow men”
What movie is this picture from?
Blazing Saddles!!
Cruz does resonate, although I’m skeptical of his diversions from conservatism with H1B, TPA, and Corker Iran. Everyone has their mistakes, and those aren’t fatal.
It keeps coming down for me to the decision to hold off getting into the fray for so long. It’s a general’s decision, and he allowed the enemy to take too much key terrain before he fired a shot.
“The other poll is not included on Real Clear Politics so it must be either an internet poll or have a methodology that they do not think is reliable. “
there’s dozens of reliable polls not included in RCP averages; just because they don’t include a poll doesn’t necessarily mean the poll unreliable.
I just donââ¬â¢t know who will work with Cruz, after heââ¬â¢s insulted them.
Wow, and Trump has’t insulted anyone? Are you for real?
***
I believe the difference twofold. One, Trump tends to insult only after he’s been attacked, and then he brings the wrecking ball in. Two, Trump tends to focus on the candidates as far as I’ve seen.
Depending on how you see it, Cruz insulted New Yorkers with his values comment—or it got turned into an insult and he wasn’t able to get on top of it fast enough to correct it. And the first thing that many people saw from his camp about the Palin endorsement was his staffer unloading on her.
Fair? True? Maybe, maybe not, but Cruz’s camp is seen as throwing around insults a lot more liberally than Trump’s camp and at a lot more people than just the candidate.
