OBERLIN – Oberlin College President Marvin Krislov answered a wide-ranging, 14-page list of student demands Wednesday by telling black students he would not respond to their sought-after policy changes. Marvin Krislov Marvin Krislov Krislov, president since the summer of 2007, posted his response on the college’s website more than one month after students in Oberlin’s Black Student Union called on the college administration to address what students believe are underlying racial tensions on campus. It comes at a time when the campus is nearly empty of students who are on an extended winter break. Attempts to reach students have been unsuccessful. The demand document was hand-delivered on Dec. 17 to Krislov and Eric Estes, the outgoing vice president and dean of students. It also went to the college’s Board of Trustees. Hundreds signed it in its online form including students and alumni. In his response Krislov, said he hears the “frustration and the desire for change at Oberlin contained in the document which echoes national themes and concerns about racism and justice.” But some of the suggested solutions including a need for black safe spaces, the firing of many faculty and staff members and the placement of others on the tenure track are disconcerting.

Love it... Oberlin is one of the most liberal, left wing colleges around. I know someone’s whose daughter went there, and mom and daughter are both left wing kooks... they reap what they sow, and deserve it.

Of course it is a ultra liberal institution. In a normal situation, the President would quickly read the demands and hand them back saying, “Hey, this is just plain stupid, come back if you have anything intelligent to say.”
