Washington (CNN)Republican Party leaders and prominent senators are sharpening their knives against Ted Cruz, expressing growing alarm over his candidacy as he continues to mount a serious threat in Iowa.
In interviews with CNN, a growing number of Republicans are beginning to echo remarks made by the likes of former Sen. Bob Dole and Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, warning that the party would suffer deep losses down the ticket and risk electing a Democratic president if the Texas senator wins the nomination.

That’s because he could actually win and worse yet would actually direct his DOJ to investigate all the crimes and follow the path to “where ever” they lead.
Dole says Cruz nomination would be cataclysmic for the GOP. Like his loss to Clinton was, maybe? What a worthless hack.

Just like Cruz’ fillabuster hurt the GOP in 2014. That’s right, the GOP made historic gains because voters thought GOP control of both the House and Senate would end the corruption in D.C.
I am old enough to remember when the GOPe cried in collective anguish over how nominating Ronald Reagan would ruin the party and guarantee the re-election of Jimmy Carter.
The GOPe always points to Goldwater in 1964 as proof that the sheeple will not elect a Conservative. The fact is that the only reason Goldwater lost was because President Kennedy had been assassinated less than one year before.
If Kennedy had not been assassinated then Kennedy would have lost to Goldwater. Because Kennedy had just been assassinated his successor, LBJ, was unbeatable. Less than four years later, when emotions over the Kennedy assassination had died down, LBJ couldn’t get re-elected dog catcher and dropped out of the race.

And he would methodically go through and undo every Obama executive order, probably fire all of his hires both in the government and in the military, and take put conservatism back on offense. The GOPe and the DemoRATS and the Progressives and the Communists must stop Ted Cruz at all costs!
Dole needs to understand that his opinions are no longer needed or even welcome.
I like Ted Cruz because of who his enemies are.

I was alive then as well. In fact Kennedy went to Texas because Goldwater was either ahead in the polls or making serious inroads.

Bob Dole.... haha. A guy who lost to a candidate that didn’t get 50% of the vote. Now there is something to brag about.
