Proving to be unstable, combative and petty, an FBI agent interjected himself in a family custodial dispute on behalf of his girlfriend and her estranged husband, who was two hours late in dropping off their baby.
But FBI Agent Gerald Rogeroâs intrusive attempts at heroism led to him assaulting and threatening to shoot the 15-year-old son of the estranged husbandâs girlfriend.
He then threatened the teenâs mother with arrest when she tried to intervene

But wait, ... laws are for the little people.
So, hearing date is past. What’s the result?
Poster Boy for jack booted thugs. He should be ruined. Absolutely ruined.
Rogero - doesn’t quite sound Sicilian.
Cops an all LE who think they can threaten tyou with arrest for anything (up to and including “not recpectin’ their AUTHORITAH”) are the single biggest problem in law enforcement these days.
We should always respect their authority.
personal experience
Bringin' Mulder an' Skully back won't change that .... but I'm lookin' forward to it.
Good grief! How did the guy ever get into the FBI in the first place?
From the Washington Compost:
FBI goon gets probation (my headline)
An FBI agent convicted last year of shoving a Maryland teenager â in an off-duty confrontation captured on cellphone video and viewed across the nation â had his guilty finding dismissed Wednesday by a judge who called the incident an unfortunate mistake in an otherwise stellar career.
The decision by Montgomery County Circuit Judge Steven Salant clears the way for Gerald Rogero, a unit chief in the FBIâs counterterrorism division, to continue his duties. Rogero has three daughters â two in college, one in high school â whom he has raised as a single father after the sudden death of his wife in 2008.
âWould it be in the best interest of the defendant â as a result of this isolated and unfortunate mistake of judgment â to deprive him of his employment, of his livelihood?â Salant asked from the bench, speaking to a courtroom packed with FBI agents supporting their colleague as well as friends and family supporting the teenager. âTo impact upon his children? To impact upon the service that he can bring to the community? I think not.â
The case against Rogero received considerable attention because of the cellphone video that showed tensions escalating between Rogero and a group of people outside an apartment building along Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase on a night in 2014.
At one point, a 15-year-old boy approached the agent, got within 18 inches of his face and, according to Rogero, threatened him. Rogero, 46, quickly struck him in the chest with the heel of his left hand, sending the teenager tumbling backward onto the pavement, the video showed.
Salant could have given Rogero jail time. Instead, he put him on two yearsâ probation, ordered him to take an anger-management course and imposed âprobation before judgment,â which means that if Rogero abides by the terms of his probation, the case will go away completely.
Rogero has no criminal record. Salant noted that it is common for such defendants to receive âprobation before judgmentâ for second-degree assault, a misdemeanor.
So he keeps his nose clean for 2 years, and in effect gets zero consequences for his thuggery. He's already got 20 years in at the Bureau, so presumably he'll take retirement now or very soon, collect his pension, and stay out of the limelight. If and when it becomes time to clean house in DC, hopefully people will also remember thugs like Rogero who abused their authority and escaped the consequences.
Cops should always respect their employers. They're civil servants.
Two years probation, and has to take an anger-management class. The assault conviction was set aside.

Should have been DRT. Had any of the 'little people' tried that on His kid, they would likely have been shot on the spot.
