LIBERAL AND CONSERVATIVE MEDIA UNITE AGAINST TRUMP
ANN COULTER ^ | January 20, 2016 | ANN COULTER

Posted on 01/20/2016 11:52:48 PM PST by nikos1121

We have never had total war against a candidate like we're seeing with Donald Trump. All elements of national media are uniting to stop him.

Look for a fake Trump scandal to break -- probably from a conservative news outlet -- right before the Iowa caucus.

A few months ago, an alleged Trump quote from a 1998 People magazine interview was circulating on the Internet, claiming Trump said that if he ever ran for president, he'd run as a Republican because Republican voters are "the dumbest group of voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie and they'd still eat it up."

I pay a lot for Nexis, and Trump has never said anything remotely resembling this. Snopes.com investigated, too, and also concluded the quote was a fake. But you can probably still find some idiot tweeting it out right now.

Last week, Glenn Beck "retweeted" a post allegedly tweeted by Trump the day after the 2012 election, saying: "I always vote for the winners! Congratulations to My Friend, @BarackObama!"

If that doesn't sound like Trump, it's because Trump never said it. Beck's retweet sure made it look real, but you can check Trump's Twitter archive.

All the stories about Trump being a fraud keep turning out to be the real frauds. I assume that, like most sentient beings, he's changed his mind about some things. But the one consistent thread running through his entire life is his love for this country and his fellow Americans.

The attacks on Trump from the "conservative" media calling him a socialist, a Democrat, a flip-flopper, a fake conservative are just name-calling. I notice that the accusers never include examples, not true ones, anyway. Here are some examples of how Trump has always been for Americans first. Wouldn't it be nice to have a president who likes us more than he likes foreigners -- and the rich donors who employ them?

In 1986, Trump saw a TV broadcast with Annabell Hill, whose 67-year-old husband had committed suicide 20 minutes before their family farm was to be auctioned off in a foreclosure sale, hoping the life insurance money would be enough to save the farm. It wasn't.

Trump immediately called Annabell, promising to save her farm and pledging $20,000 toward the effort. "Last night when he called, my heart went pitter patter," Annabell told ABC's "World News Tonight." "I never talked with a man with that much money before. And he assured me that one day the land would be mine. I thought, after I hung up, 'This can't be true, this just can't be true.'"

As Trump explained to The Atlanta Constitution at the time, "I've seen what's happened to farmers, but I was particularly interested in a lovely woman I saw, Annabell Hill."

Within a month of Trump's launching a national campaign with two other businessmen to save Annabell's farm, they had raised more than $100,000. One of the businessmen, Frank A. Argenbright Jr., said, "That is thanks totally to Mr. Trump and his organization. Most of the money has come from the New York area."

By Christmas that year, Annabell and her entire family flew to New York to burn the mortgage in the lobby of Trump Towers and have Christmas dinner with the Trump family. The lovely Annabell said, "Well, we have a real celebration not only to celebrate the birth of Jesus but also to celebrate the goodness in men's hearts."

Thirty years ago, Trump wasn't thinking about running for president. And yet, this is how he explained his campaign to save Annabell's farm, as quoted by The Associated Press: "We give a lot of money to foreign countries that don't give a damn about us, but we don't help the American farmers."

Two years later, Trump was interviewed by Larry King at the 1988 Republican National Convention. Please look up this interview -- it's fabulous.

Two things will be of particular interest. First, watch how Trump keeps circling back to praise Dan Quayle. King doesn't even ask him about Quayle -- a figure of media ridicule at the time because of his Midwest conservatism. It's Trump who keeps doggedly bringing up Quayle, in order to say, he's a "very impressive guy" who did "a great job -- I don't mean a good job, I mean a great job."

Second, Trump expressly rejects King's characterization of him as an "Eastern Republican," or a "Rockefeller Republican," saying the people he does best with are "the taxi drivers and the workers."

Trump's business is real estate, and real estate can't be outsourced. His flag is planted in this country. If America goes down, his empire goes down.

Conservative pundits keep assuring clueless viewers that Trump is not a "real Republican." They seem not to grasp that most viewers are saying, That's fantastic! Thanks for reminding me. (I look forward to conservative talk show hosts 20 years hence billing themselves as "Trump Republicans.")

Looking at what the party has become, I certainly hope he's not a "real Republican." I know he's a real American. Those used to be the same thing.

People here would have thrown Reagan under the bus because he WAS once a liberal, people change. Trump WAS also a liberal but not anymore and before anybody starts talking about trump being too old dont forgot that trump would only be a year older then when Reagan took office

Cruz beats hillary one on one. would BURY her in debates.

I don't actually think that is true. He might sound better to us but we are not typical voters. Besides you have to know they will give Hillary the questions in advance, maybe even ask her the questions they can ask her.

This is a good article by Coulter.

I remember that story about the lady and the farm but I didn't know exactly how it turned out because our media up here always portrayed these things framed with their agenda: publicity hog raising money for downtrodden widow, why don't he just give her the money? Or something like that.

Seeing how it ended with them flying in for Christmas dinner with his family after burning the mortgage actually choked me up, an emotion I only get at funerals these days.

The bureaucracy up here is murder ( as I'm sure it is in all other deep "blue" states ) and they ritually sacrifice people like her down on their luck with abandon. He did the right thing all along while many of us, I mean including me, bought the media driven nonsense about self-aggrandizement. I'm sure he has lots of other similar stories that no-one will ever even know about.

Coulter makes lots of good points but none is better than this ...

Conservative pundits keep assuring clueless viewers that Trump is not a "real Republican." ... Looking at what the party has become, I certainly hope he's not a "real Republican."

He should begin using that exact phrase.

You’ve been told wrong

Trump gave up alcohol after his brother died from alcoholism. At no point has he (Donald)ever been accused of having a problem with alcohol. That is the kind of BS the left used to say about GWB

I don’t know the whole story, but Trump helped Maytag workers some 7 yeARS ago when Hanover lost 2500 jobs to Mexico. This was before he ran for an office...understated.

I tried to find it but couldn’t. It’s been brought up during the campaign.

There are many many stories out there about the man.

Some people give money, and want full recognition. He spreads it around. True, he gave to the Clintons, but I think he was a cheerful giver.

Might explain his riches. God rewards those who are good custodians of the riches he gives us.

OUr country is like a kid w a credit card. We approve gas stations in Iraq and other construction that favors a few to the tune of almost one billion dollars. What the heck is going on here.

As a debtor nation, we are beginning to feel God’s wrath, as we go deeper into debt.

Keep calling them out.. Even soros knows.. Trump is the only democrat who can win.

Trump is the man with the real executive experience. Lawyers running this country are never military commanders as they are lawyers-not men who have proven leadership at level after level. Trump has more real business experience then any past President in my lifetime. That is what this nation needs in office. Trump hires lawyers from his tax attorney, corporate attorney, to you name it. He is the only candidate running who has a business degree and his is from one of the best schools. The Wharton School of Business in PA is as good as Harvard, maybe better. Trump understand the factors of production unlike Cruz who never took Econ 201. Cruz knows the law and yes he is smart. He does not know what we need a Pres to know. Business schools teach money and banking, Trump understands it. I highly doubt Cruz does. Many business degree types understand macro and micro econ theory as they minor in Econ or have a double major. Regardless, my point is any that an attorney bringing up a tax plan is like a bad joke to any businessman. We have an attorney in office whose tax plan and econ policy have ruined some businesses and his econ advisors are out in left field. Keynesian macro econ is not the MACRO theory I learned in college. Macro theory was in short national income accounting when I took MACRO.

Thanks, Ann. It’s articles such as this which remind me she is still relevant.

Another example of Trump doing good. I am reminded of what Trump did St the end of Ed McMahon’s life.

I would just be happy for an accomplished executive leader with proven experience who demonstrably loves this country and speaks of restoring it to greatness.

It has been a long 8 years for many. I do believe Trump is earnest with what he has been saying. He has placed too much on the line personally and financially not to mean it.

Alight, I'm getting sick of the "Ann Coulter left" posts. She NEVER did.

While everyone else was sitting around on their rears, she was talking about immigration because she's a Republican like me. She only supported candidates who weren't for amnesty while a porous border and welfare state existed. That's why she backed Christie until his Senator stabbed everyone in the back and voted for the Gang of 8 bill. It's why she backed Romney, and now Trump. It's real easy to rally people when you take a popular stance. No one cares about anything else except that one important issue -- immigration.

A real estate developer is at the front lines of illegal immigration. Contractors, subcontractors, etc. all work to disguise what's really going into their bids for work.

At a critical breaking point, Trump held up a dusty policy our so-called Republicans chucked into the waste bin and turned into a hero overnight. It gave him teflon armor six feet deep. He doesn't have a history of sneaking new visa programs into monstrous legislation most wouldn't notice hidden in the bloat.

Any of the candidates could've done the same thing. They didn't.

If people are so concerned over Trump's background and scared he won't enforce the law, then go find a governor (I'm anti-Senator at the moment) with good judgement and a stronger, verified record that can overtake him.

Good luck wth that at this stage of the race.

In 1986, Trump saw a TV broadcast with Annabell Hill, whose 67-year-old husband had committed suicide 20 minutes before their family farm was to be auctioned off in a foreclosure sale, hoping the life insurance money would be enough to save the farm. It wasn't.

Heartbreaking. Gillian Flynn wrote a best selling novel that really exemplified what happened in the 1980s with farming. There's an okay movie adaption if reading fiction isn't your forte.

She upset me with the attacks on those of us who questioned Obama’s background...and attacks against Newt... and her adulation of Christie...

All in all, she is a good writer, and on the money esp with the Kwanzai Christmas season phony celebration that George Bush and other STILL don’t see through as a hoax.

I’m glad people like her have TRump’s ear.

Trump says he works for us. He respects us. He reports to us.

I guess it’s an honor system. We will believe him until we cease to believe him.

Trump attempted to purchase the first lien on McMahon’s mortgage. Another buyer ended up buying the home over Trump.

Still the gesture was there. This was in 2007.

Trump is transparent. You can google his name with just about anyone... and something comes up...

This morning, I googled Trump and Oprah this comes out...

So after endorsing Mittens in the primary in 2011/12 Ann was universally despised here. I she forgiven now?

I'm trying to decide between a pretzel analogy and referring to it simply as schizophrenia.
