Listen: Levin Explains Trump's Crony-Capitalist Iowa Ethanol Pander
Conservative Review ^ | 1/20/16 | CR Wire

Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin explained why Donald Trump, the supposed anti-establishment candidate, is siding with the establishment on the ethanol mandate. It has everything to do with trying to pander for votes.

Levin explained what crony capitalism is. That it is the state picking winners at the expense of others. In the case of ethanol they have made it mandatory in cars, even though it is proven that it does not reduce oil usage, because oil is needed for the production of ethanol. That it hurts engines.

The most damaging thing that ethanol does, according to Levin is add to famine and poverty in the third world, by limiting the production of food crops, as the land is used to grow ethanol feedstock instead of food.

Levin focused on the fact that Donald Trump is going all in for ethanol to pander to Governor Terry Branstad in Iowa. He told his audience that Branstad's son makes a living from the ethanol industry.

Yes it is a pander, but it’s a direct pandering to the Iowa voters. Not good, but not the same as being bought off by crony capitalists.

I like Ted Cruz, and if he is the nominee, I will certainly vote for him in the general (I’m voting for Trump in the primary however), but he is not pure.

I mean, come on. He’s a Harvard lawyer and has certainly had some questionable votes since he’s been in the senate. Votes that really make me scratch my head, and his changed his mind on some things too, so I am not buying all of this Reagan mystique being assigned to him.

He is a man, flawed like everyone else. Trump, who is also flawed, seems to have a far greater gravitational pull than Cruz does, so it looks like this is going to be Trump’s time, and not Cruz’s. At least to me.

Yep. I am a long time supporter of Cruz which makes his occasional trips off the conservative reservation irritating. He’s my number 2 candidate. I expect better from him.

Honestly, I wish he would have stayed in Texas and run for governor. He’s stopped nothing in the Senate and damaged his brand with non stop campaigning for POTUS. He’s young and has time to come back stronger after learning from this defeat. He’ll either lose the primary or the general. He won’t be POTUS this time around.

Well one flavor doesn’t cost the rest of the country money and corrupt business/government. It’s called crony capitalism for a reason.

You guys bitch about Cruz borrowing money from Goldman Sachs that he has to pay back himself to run his senate campaign. But the other guy is buying votes with my money by forcing ethanol on me and I have no say - but that’s a-okay with you guys...

>>Without restraining government to the limits of the constitution things will not turn around in any meaningful lasting way.<<

Agreed. That is a big point I forgot to mention. The constitution is at the heart of our nation’s hope for survival.

Protecting the nation abroad militarily, and our borders, is a legitimate power of the federal government.

My worst nightmare is the democrat-globalists get elected and bring Blue Helmets onto American soil. My second worst nightmare is they keep entering into these execrable quasi-treaties like the trade treaties, surrender treaties like Iran, immigration plans of U.N., and global warming.

I think it should be an optional additive to when we buy gas. If I don't want it in my gas, I shouldn’t need it...

You don't need it. It makes the fuel for your car cost more. It reduces your gas mileage. Nobody would choose to buy it. Thanks to crony capitalism, the corn lobby is dumping it on all of us. It doesn't appear that will changing.

I have to and same with Rush. I used to listen to Levin who thinks he has to elect Cruz no matter what. Will Cruz build the wall or deport illegals? No, he will debate it and that is all.

Pray America wakes

What about Goldman Sachs being one of his top donors or his wife being promoted weeks after he won the Senate. What is her salary for them? That does not sound Conservative.
