Former Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) praised Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for his view on gay marriage on Thursday's broadcast of CNBC's Squawk Box. Cruz appeared on the show prior to Frank and said though he believes marriage is between one man and one woman, that it is up to each state to decide what their marriage law should be.
"I support the Constitution letting each state decide each marriage law consistent with the values of their citizens," Cruz said. "If the citizens of California decide they want to allow gay marriage, that's a decision for them."
Barney Frank said Cruz's comments represent an "evolution" of how gay marriage is viewed in the U.S.
"Ted Cruz is one of the most conservative people in American politics. He just made a very important statement that you quoted, that you ran on the air, which he said if a state wants to have same-sex marriage, that's okay," Frank said. "So even Ted Cruz's position, as I said he's the leader of the right in America, he represents an evolution in favor of allowing same-sex marriage."
"It's even more vindication that the country is moving when someone on the right takes that position," Frank said.

Who new Franks respects the constitution?
Ted’s problem is...that ship has already sailed. The USSC has ruled.
I remember his battles with Dick Armey.
No Bwaney, Cruz is saying States rights in ANY matter should super-cede Federal mandates.
IOW, Get the Federal Government off our backs!
It's cut off the oxygen to his brain.
ROFLMAO!!!!
Oh yeah I’m sure Cruz’s numbers will go up now knowing Barney Frank praises him.
LOL!
I do believe that Cruz thinks it a state issue now (since it’s not in the CURRENT constitution). That is not at variance with it becoming a “federal” issue if the US Constitution is revised. The two positions are not mutually contradictory.
You do realize that Barney Frank is simply attempting to wound Ted Cruz with his remarks...don’t you?
So Barney BJ was a proponent of Proposition 8?
I like Ted Cruz, but on this issue I like Rick Santorum better. He has been both right and consistent over many years. It’s worth noting that Barney Frank isn’t praising Rick.
Donald Trump: “You have to go with it. The decisionâs been made, and that is the law of the land,”
The Tenth Amendment
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States, respectively, or to the people.
............
Ratified in 1791, the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution embodies the general principles of Federalism in a republican form of government. The Constitution specifies the parameters of authority that may be exercised by the three branches of the federal government: executive, legislative, and judicial. The Tenth Amendment reserves to the states all powers that are not granted to the federal government by the Constitution, except for those powers that states are constitutionally forbidden from exercising.
For example, nowhere in the federal Constitution is Congress given authority to regulate local matters concerning the health, safety, and morality of state residents. Known as police powers, such authority is reserved to the states under the Tenth Amendment. Conversely, no state may enter into a treaty with a foreign government because such agreements are prohibited by the plain language of Article I to the Constitution.

I’d feel much better about Ted if he stressed the fact that God created marriage as between one man and one woman.
This should really give Ted a boost. Having a former congressional felcher endorse anyone is a real source of coprophilic pride fit for the next parade.
From a purely constitutional POV Cruz is right. And the SCOTUS is dad wrong.
You do realize that Trump is fine with SSM, and doesn't even think the issue should be returned to the states, but that SSM is now "the law of the land", right? Cruz is correct with regard to the Constitutional principles. If you can change the Constitution via an amendment, great. I would even support that effort, and I'm sure Cruz would as well. But until the Constitution is changed, the correct Constitutional answer is that marriage is a state issue, not a federal one.
Wow that is like an endorsement from hell. People acted like Jesse’s James endorsement of Trump was bad, this is way worse.
dad=dead*
Proof reading is my friend...
I forgot to give the typical Trump Fan response.. this was from 2014. Old News.
