KING Salman of Saudi Arabia could be preparing to upend the succession of the House of Saud by abdicating in favour of his controversial 30-year-old son Prince Mohammed bin Salman, bypassing his designated successor, according to American diplomatic sources.
At present Salman, 80, is due to be succeeded by his nephew, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, 56. A report by the Washington-based Gulf Institute, supported by Saudi dissidents, claimed last week that the king could change the rules and install his son.

So is this possible successor more Western oriented or more jihad friendly? If he is 30 he could be in power for a long time. The article says he is controversial, whatever that means.
Succession struggle coming up?
So far all the kings have been the sons of the original King Saud. This would be a huge break.
Without predicting any particular outcome; If you believe as I do that KSA and Iran are engaged in a de facto non-shooting war with oil being the weapon, this could really have a hugh, world-wide effect/impact.
Not that oil is going to sky any time soon. (there I go predicting!)
I think this is old news.
I predict the Kingdom of Saud will fall, and relatively soon.
They just lost 2 proxy wars, and the public confidence that goes along with that.
Note that most people in Saudi Arabia are not Saudi Arabian.

A real assessment of this is very difficult, because they practice deceit as an art form. There is also intense intrigue at all levels.
