Well, if he thinks all the candidates are cr@p, I’d say his judgement is pretty good.

Everyone has an opinion. That there was no mention of Hillary makes the exchange meaningless, IMO.

In the linked item, I express my regret that they didn’t ask him about Hillary, adding that it would have been a bombshell if he had given her the same “I don’t think so” with which he dismissed Biden and Kerry.

Gates is out on the circuit pushing his newest book and trying to be relevant. Because there is no more interviews if you don’t say something sizzling, he ripped the field. But funny enough, this is the best field of Republican candidates in years. His sugar Daddy’s candidate, JEB!, is the weakest of all.
I can overlook his weaseling during Iran-Contra while other honorable men took a fall; I can overlook him doing ubama’s bidding in Iraq and Afghanistan; I can even overlook his ambition here, but damn, he’s an Aggie! President of the whole school. No credibility with me, at all.
Hook ‘em!

“Robert Gates blasts all the presidential candidates.”
Except for Hillary, Gates made no mention of Hillary. IMHO, Gates blew it with me when he decided to work for Obama....doesn’t show too many smarts. Just like General Patreas thinking he could live with the snakes. Sure reminds me of the poem that Donald Trump read about the “Foolish woman and the snake”. However, General Patreas doesn’t deserve to be DEMOTED retro-actively which is what I heard over Fox News about 2 hours ago. He has already paid a very high price for his “living in the snakes den”.

"if you have never beeen in government, your ability to make the government work is going to be significantly reduced." Only the governing class is fit to rule. Ladies and germs, this is precisely the problem, not the solution.

Donald Trump: "if you have never beeen in government, your ability to make the government work is going to be significantly reduced."
translation: Trump is going to have to fire 20,000 bureaucrats on Day One if he expects to be taken seriously and not have his policies undermined.

What difference does it make....?

Gates did also dismiss Biden and Kerry as presidential candidates. And when Gates was asked if there was “anybody” in the entire field with the qualities he wants in a president, he said “I don’t see any.”
