Matthew 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All * these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Just making room for the effects of global warming.

Idiotic journalist. If the ocean depth is decreasing, the seafloor is rising, not sinking.
What was the Greek word(s) used for earthquakes? I’d bet it just didn’t meant that but also other large scale earth violent activities/phenomena.
I hadn’t noticed that part (said inches, not feet, BTW), but the tides affect every part of the ocean, not just near shore. Really idiotic journalist.
Well, hold on now... http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2016/01/claims_that_plunging_ocean_wat.html#incart_river_home_pop
Obama promised the oceans would stop rising. All hail Obama!
I wonder if there is any other kind sometimes.
I'm always impressed that they discovered the names of those plates.

I really do not think you understand the force of the ocean...
A 4” rise (or drop) of the ocean floor covering a few hundred square miles is a tremendous, potential, force. These buoys are firmly attached to the ocean floor. Waves crash upon them all day and night. Tides are different than waves and easily accounted for. A 100’ tidal wave would register on a buoy as a 4” to 6” ‘long pulse’ that would only turn into a wave when it neared the shore and the depth of the ocean, relatively, decreased.
I escaped a rogue wave one evening because I was: 1) aware, 2) young, fit and capable of running fast and 3) lucky enough to find a HUGE driftwood log to jump onto.
The two ladies south of me in their coats taking a stroll after a movie were not so lucky...
Next session: undertow.

I missed that, too. I shouldn’t comment before coffee.
Plate tectonics, earth quakes, volcanic eruptions are not exactly uncommon. This doesn't represent a significant increase in seismic activity all over the earth.
I really think I do understand the force of the ocean. I also understand tides, and (as you apparently do not) that so-called “tidal waves” have nothing to do with tides, nor are they the same as rogue waves.

What’s so hard to understand about the above?
Too technical for you?
The ocean floor rose, initially 4”, then another 3’ - it’s not a wave nor a tide.
And you called the journalist an idiot.
Sorry, after learning so much about the cause of earthquakes incliding plate tectonics, I really have a tough time buying into Matthew 24:7. The Jehovah’s Witnesses talk up the earthquake angle in Matt 24:7 as well. Having rescued a few members from that danagerous bible based cult, I tend not to believe in these interpretations any more. The article is interesting though.
It is good that the author clarified that it was off the WEST coast of Oregon. /S
How exactly did you learn about the cause of earthquakes? Sure it wasn’t just a study of the effects? Nobody can go down to the mantle and see the cause.
Matthew 24:7 is a sure prophecy. There is no way that I would let someone’s misinterpretation shake my faith, much less make me transfer my faith to flawed scientists.
