Matthew 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All * these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Just making room for the effects of global warming.

Idiotic journalist. If the ocean depth is decreasing, the seafloor is rising, not sinking.
What was the Greek word(s) used for earthquakes? I’d bet it just didn’t meant that but also other large scale earth violent activities/phenomena.
Well, hold on now... http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2016/01/claims_that_plunging_ocean_wat.html#incart_river_home_pop
Obama promised the oceans would stop rising. All hail Obama!
I'm always impressed that they discovered the names of those plates.
Plate tectonics, earth quakes, volcanic eruptions are not exactly uncommon. This doesn't represent a significant increase in seismic activity all over the earth.
Sorry, after learning so much about the cause of earthquakes incliding plate tectonics, I really have a tough time buying into Matthew 24:7. The Jehovah’s Witnesses talk up the earthquake angle in Matt 24:7 as well. Having rescued a few members from that danagerous bible based cult, I tend not to believe in these interpretations any more. The article is interesting though.
It is good that the author clarified that it was off the WEST coast of Oregon. /S
Instead of saying “ocean bed”, it’s now “land beneath the ocean”?
Bkmrk.
You will not know the day or the hour
Huh??? If the water column “shrunk by 4 inches”, the distance between the surface of the water and the sea bottom, on average, grew less... not more!
The statement “The earth sunk;” is inverted; the sea floor rose.
In any event, get your hip waders out!
That article scared the shite right out of me. A four foot drop? For every action, there is a equal but opposite action.
I watch a story about tsunamis. One woman told a story that her grandmother told her. She said when the water goes way out, you will hear the boulders under the ocean start to rumble. If you hear that, run. Because when the boulders stop rolling out....the water is going to come back. And if you wait, you will never out run it.
I think the boulders might be rumbling (metaphorically speaking.)
The Bay of Fundy is roughly the same latitude as Oregon, and though the currents interacting with a bit of land cam enhance a tidal surge, the increasing latitude farther from the equator has the greater effect on the min/max differential in most locations.
In the case of the Bay of Fundy, tides of 50 feet are not uncommon. http://bayoffundytourism.com/tides/
As to the tectonic plate shifting up or down quickly, how much noise energy would that produce? Probably in an area of the world with so many seismographs, it wouldn’t slip by without notice. A vertical plate movement produces a step change in sea level-— the wavelength of such a generated tsunami is 50 miles or more.

The water column height gauge depicts a tide at its location in excess of two meters, about 7’2”. Notice there is no sustained step change, but the displacement is sinusoidal. While larger than most other movements visible on the graph when blown up to see detail, other similar excursions are present. Bupkis.
