Glenn Frey, a founding member and guitarist of the Eagles, has died ... TMZ has learned. Frey had been battling intestinal issues for months and had surgery in November. We're told in the last few days his condition took a turn for the worse. Glenn co-wrote and sang most of the Eagles hits, including "Take It Easy," "Tequila Sunrise," "Lyin' Eyes," and "Heartache Tonight," to name a few. He also co-wrote "Hotel California" and "Desperado" with Don Henley and took home 6 Grammys with the band. After the Eagles' 1980 breakup, Glenn launched a successful solo career, recording numerous hits ... most notably "The Heat Is On" and "You Belong to the City." Glenn also got into acting, snagging a recurring role on "Miami Vice." He reunited with the Eagles in '94 for their monster Hell Freezes Over tour and recorded music till the end, releasing what would be his fifth and final solo LP, "After Hours," in 2012. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer had been fighting intestinal issues for awhile but his condition relapsed before the holidays, forcing the Eagles to pull out of their Kennedy Center Honors appearance in December. At the time, the band said he needed major surgery that would require a lengthy recovery, but it appears he was never able to bounce back. Glenn was 67. RIP.
Condolences to family and friends of Glenn Fry.
Three Dog Night
Chuck Negron is still with us. Although he came very close to buying it, before he got himself clean.
Really? Seems I survived his “assassin’s” bullet - and learned some good guitar riffs in the process.
LOL. I stopped by there this summer. The wife just had to stand on the corner. I s amazed at the number of people there. Very nicely done too.
And Elvis? And the early Jazz musicians? In the 1920s Jazz was linked with young delinquency. How about turn of the century Ragtime?
Heartache Tonight was co/wrote by Bob Seger. The Eagles just could not put it together & called Bob in:)
OMFG! $900 in concert tickets? ... I take it you were not carrying a pistol that day!
History of the Eagles is worth watching just to see Joe Walsh age from 20-something to 95 and then back to 50.
Amazing band. Amazing story. It’ll be tough... After the Thrill is Gone.
Oh, didn’t know about Libertini.
Went to one of their concerts last year and I paid around 175 bucks....it was worth every nickel ..one of best best concerts I’ve ever attended ...I’m glad I got to see them ... I’ve got stories to tell my grandchildren now RIP!
Saw them twice - 83 and 84 - got to shake hands with Cory Wells and spoke with Jimmy Greenspoon.
But yeah, the fade shots as each body is uncovered (say, the "X-Files" used that technique), and the Arielle waiting for Ted as the out of focus Johnson becomes recognizable.
The shots of Frey in the earlier post still don't ring a bell. I must not have paid attention to the credits, either, because I've come across epis on cable, and was surprised to see a young Michael Richards as one of the guest bad guys, among others.
Thanks. I did not know that.
I saw them once, I believe it was 1977. I have always said it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen.
He did not do so bad on Miami Vice, still remember his roles, usually some sort of drug smuggler of course.>>
Didn’t write the theme song as well?
...damn drag it is get'n old.
“...The music was so bad back then, ...”
You mean Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Co. Grand Funk, Allman Bros. CCR, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Hall&Oats, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Linda Rhonstadt, Jim Croce, The Who, The Guess Who, BTO, etc. etc. etc. not to mention the best soul; Tempts, 4Tops, Al Green, Spinners, Manhattans, Tower of Power, etc. Motown ever put out?
I guess taste is subjective, but that’s the stuff that’s still on the radio.
I saw them in 77 and then about 10 years ago.
