Ted Cruz, one of the great phonies to ever run for President, the great pretender of the current political season, says that he is the candidate best suited to unify the country. He can only hope to unify it the way he already has his own party, which hates him more than it hates the President.
"Believe me," Rep. Pete King told me on Sunday, "there are a helluva lot of Republican congressmen and senators who, even if they agree with Cruz on issues -- can't stand him personally, and really do dislike him more than Barack Obama."
This isn't about the fight that Cruz picked with New York, city and state. That was a fight stopped on cuts almost as soon as it began. No, this is about someone who carries himself as the one candidate speaking up for American values, who carries himself like some kind of American hero, even though his campaign slogan should be this:
Where's mine?
When Cruz issued an apology to New Yorkers the other day that was about as sincere as his smile, he finished by telling Sean Hannity, "I apologize . . . to the millions of conservatives, working men and women in New York with common-sense values."
This comes from somebody who has the instincts of an inside trader, from somebody who wants to be the real political outsider in this race, even though he is a graduate of Princeton and Harvard Law and the George W. Bush administration; who was a Supreme Court clerk; who is the former corporate lawyer who now says it just slipped his mind to file the proper paperwork about a Goldman Sachs loan he got when running for the U.S. Senate.

Hillary is the great pretender!
What is becoming PAINFULLY clear to me is that this is boiling down to a choice between a carnival barker and a narcissist with a messiah complex.
Neither one should be permitted anywhere near the launch codes.
My choice last time was Santorum. And while he may not be “presidential material”, at least I didn’t worry about him blowing up the world either by mistake or for fun.
No thank you.
You only take flak when you are over the target.
Just another New Yorker bitching and moaning about something.
The President must represent all people and do what's best for the nation. Mr. Trump gets that. Those other two I mentioned, not so much.
Your guy is a bum who donated to leftists across the country, loved Hillary, and lies about his opponents all the time. He is a loathesome person.
Oh those NY values.
This from a reporter at the Daily Snooze! Ha. What a joke. And Pete King is just as much a joke, a notch below Cuomo on the idiotic lefty scale that reigns in NY democrat politics. Cruz is right. NY state is being run by a communist Cuomo and NYC a communist DeBlazio. Until the dumb democrats wake up in this state, these two and lefty nuts in the assembly now and to follow will continue to take us down the path of lunacy.
Trump will “work well” with Democrats and the GOP-E, I concede.
I suppose King thinks this news will surprise & appall Cruz supporters.
So, Freepers are now lapping up what Jennifer Rubin and Mike Lupica have to say while bashing Mark Levin?
I’m for Trump but screw Lupica who has a record of voting for evil people.. Ted Cruz is 100 times the man he is
Go follow your fake New York conservative but don’t expect many social conservatives votes in November if Donald Trump is able to slime his way to the nomination.
I don’t for a second think that Cruz or Trump would blow up the world by mistake or for fun. Upon reflection, I doubt you do either.
Cruz has not shown any signs of being this out of touch.
Trump somehow participated in the business world climbing to a rather healthy height. You don’t do that without a decent set of decision making and management skills. Not the industry he was operating in, you don’t.
So New Yorkers — who overwhelmingly elected a governor who promptly moved to curtail 2nd Amendment rights and told social conservatives they’re not welcome in that state — are beset with butthurt about someone criticizing their “values.”
“Contrast that to Mr. Trump, who is using his campaign as an opportunity to meet people all over the US, and learn what’s important to them.”
Pardon me, I think I just through up a little in my mouth.
Nice, your way or you take your ball and go home.
Back in the Hurricane Sandy days, a relief bill went through the Senate. Cruz voted against it because it was loaded with pork, things that had nothing to do with Hurricane Sandy relief.
King has been upset at Cruz ever since.
