Gasbuddy.com says several stations in Houghton Lake, Michigan have lowered their prices under $1 per gallon, in what appears to be a price war.

According to GasBuddy it appears these stations are currently the first stations in the country to see prices under $1 per gallon in years. As the situation unfolds, it's possible these stations re-raise prices back over $1/gallon.

78 cents per gallon was recorded at Beacon & Bridge Market while 95 cents per gallon was recorded at the Marathon in Houghton Lake. Prices were verified by GasBuddy after a review of photographs uploaded to GasBuddy's app.

Well as I read in USAToday, “republicans talked a lot about drill baby drill but it was Obama that made it happen”

So feckless dems will take credit for anything good.

Located just below the knuckle of the middle finger in the mitten is not exactly a convenient location. I wonder if there is a major pipeline terminal or junction in the vicinity to create a surplus . . .

Gas stations would give away fuel in order to sell $1.69 candy bars.

Can’t wait for the bottom to fall out of the propane price. It would be nice to have a nice warm house again. I remember that as a kid in the 60’s our house was always warm. I miss that.

There was the wolverine pipeline up there but it was shut down after the Gasoline spill in Jackson several years ago. There was a refinery in Alma Michigan but that's also shut down.

I'm about 70 miles west of Detroit so its a bit far for me to drive for gas too.

Yes I had a propane house from 86 to 2006. Prices got painful in the 2000 decade.

Now I’m in a smaller nat gas heated house and the heating bill is hardly a budget item.

Natural gas is only available in the city it will never get to my house. Ever.

I wish someone would develop technology where CNG could be cheaply transported and SAFELY stored under ground. The tanks would be prohibitively expensive. Never gonna happen....

It’s a good time to buy Oil futures (Long term).

Just be aware, anyone following along the same line of thinking, that oil futures (CL, the West Texas Intermediate oil that is usually cited) expire every month. We just shifted to March futures this session (starting Sunday night) as the volume of trades are now in March and not February contracts. So, a long term entry must be in a distant contract month that will match your definition of "long term".

Go for a Sunday drive for no reason other than to have a car ride. I remember my Grandpa doing that all the time.

We used to do that quite a bit when I was a kid. And my mother, city born and raised, would point out every horse and cow along the way as if they were the first ones she'd ever seen.

It’s currently 60 degrees in the house and I’m wrapped in a blanket.

Gas in my part of TX was $1.71 yesterday.
